Description

330104-00-20-10-01-05: 3300 XL 8 mm proximity probe with armored cable, metric M10 x 1 thread, 0 mm unthreaded length, 20 mm case length, 1.0 m total length, coaxial ClickLoc connector with connector protector, and CSA/ATEX/IECEx agency approvals. This proximity probe acts as a non-contacting sensor that outputs a voltage proportional to the distance between the probe tip and the observed conductive surface. It is used for both static (position) and dynamic (vibration) measurements on fluid-film bearing machinery, such as turbines, compressors, and generators, in industrial environments.

This specific configuration includes a flexible stainless steel armor sleeve (Option 00-20-10-01-05) protecting the coaxial cable, preventing damage in harsh operating environments. The integrated ClickLoc connector with a connector protector (Option 01) seals the electrical joint from fluid contamination. The combination of M10 x 1 metric threading with a fully threaded 20 mm case (Option 00-20) allows for direct, secure mounting through machine casings without requiring an unthreaded shoulder. It is fully certified for hazardous area environments with standard CSA, ATEX, and IECEx approvals (Option 05).

Features

  • Flexible Stainless Steel Armor: Integral protective sleeve shields the coaxial cable against abrasion, impact, and cutting in demanding machine environments.
  • Fully Threaded Case: Metric M10 x 1 housing has 0 mm unthreaded length (Option 00) and a compact 20 mm overall length (Option 20) for narrow installation locations.
  • Standard 1.0 Meter Length: Coaxial lead extends to exactly 1.0 m (3.3 feet) (Option 10) for direct connections to Proximitor sensors or extension cables.
  • Connector Protector (Option 01): ClickLoc connector is supplied with an integrated environmental protector sleeve to exclude oil, moisture, and chemical contaminants.
  • Hazardous Area Certified: Fully compliant with CSA, ATEX, and IECEx certification standards (Option 05) for intrinsically safe installations.
  • Hardy Tip Encapsulation: Molded polyphenylene sulfide (PPS) tip material resists chemical erosion and high temperatures.

Applications

This proximity probe is used in critical rotating machinery monitoring, including:

  • Radial vibration and shaft dynamic motion monitoring on fluid-film bearings.
  • Axial position and thrust measurement on steam turbines, gas turbines, and compressors.
  • Keyphasor reference signals and speed measurements.
  • Machine casing alignment and thermal expansion tracking in power generation, oil and gas, and petrochemical operations.

Installation Guidelines

Ensure standard installation practices are followed for optimal transducer performance:

  • Probe Gapping: Typically set to -10.0 Vdc (approximately 1.27 mm or 50 mils) against the target surface for a standard -24 Vdc supply.
  • Thread Torque: Do not exceed the maximum rated installation torque of 22.6 N-m (200 in-lbf) for M10 x 1 threads; recommended mounting torque is 7.5 N-m (66 in-lbf).
  • Cable Bend Radius: Maintain a minimum physical bend radius of 25.4 mm (1.0 in) for the armored coaxial cable to avoid interior signal conductor degradation.
  • Target Requirements: Standard calibration is for an AISI 4140 steel target. The target surface must be at least 15.2 mm (0.6 in) in diameter to prevent side-view interference.

Compliance and Certifications

This module complies with the following safety and hazardous area standards when installed with the corresponding Proximitor barriers:

  • CSA: Class I, Div 1, Groups A, B, C, D; Class II, Div 1, Groups E, F, G; Class III
  • ATEX: II 1 G Ex ia IIC T4/T5 Ga
  • IECEx: Ex ia IIC T4/T5 Ga (Intrinsically Safe)
  • CE Mark: Fully compliant with relevant European EMC and safety directives.

Bently Nevada 330104-00-20-10-01-05 3300 XL 8 mm Proximity Probe

What does the 330104-00-20-10-01-05 part number represent?

This model is a Bently Nevada 3300 XL 8 mm metric proximity probe with an M10 x 1 thread and flexible stainless steel armor. Specifically, it has a 0 mm unthreaded length (fully threaded), 20 mm case length, 1.0 meter overall length, a miniature coaxial ClickLoc connector with an integrated connector protector, and CSA/ATEX/IECEx hazardous area certification.

Why does this probe include an armored cable and connector protector?

The flexible stainless steel armor (7.67 mm outside diameter) shields the coaxial cable from physical damage, abrasions, and cutting. The connector protector (Option 01) seals the connector joint to keep out turbine oil, moisture, and atmospheric contaminants.

Can this probe be connected directly to any Proximitor sensor?

This probe is a 1.0-meter configuration designed to be used with a 3300 XL standard extension cable to achieve a total system length of either 5.0 meters or 9.0 meters. It must be paired with the corresponding 3300 XL Proximitor sensor calibrated for the matching total length.

What target material is this proximity probe calibrated for?

By default, the 3300 XL 8 mm system is factory calibrated for AISI 4140 steel target material. If your application uses a different target metal, custom calibration may be required.
