Description

Option 00 (0.0 mm unthreaded length), Option 05 (50 mm overall case length), Option 10 (1.0 meter total length), and Option 12 (FluidLoc cable with miniature coaxial ClickLoc connector) specify this unarmored M8 x 1 threaded metric probe configuration — 330173-00-05-10-12-00.

This eddy-current proximity probe belongs to the Bently Nevada 3300 5 mm Transducer System family. It is used for non-contact shaft vibration and axial position measurements on rotating machinery, especially in tight or low-profile mounting spaces where larger probes cannot fit. Unlike standard cable options, the integrated FluidLoc cable prevents lube oil and other process fluids from leaking out of the machine housing through the cable's inner core. The unarmored design offers maximum flexibility for routing through conduits, and the probe does not require external hazardous area approvals under Option 00.

Features

  • Option 12 FluidLoc cable prevents process oil and fluid leakage through the internal cable core.
  • Option 00 unthreaded case length of 0.0 mm allows for fully threaded mounting into machinery walls.
  • Option 05 provides a 50 mm overall case length with metric M8 x 1 threads for standard metric installations.
  • Option 10 specifies a 1.0 meter (3.3 feet) integrated probe cable length.
  • Option 00 designates that no hazardous area agency approvals are required.
  • Miniature coaxial ClickLoc connector facilitates quick, secure coupling to the 3300 XL extension cable without specialized tooling.
  • 5.2 mm tip diameter is ideal for small shaft diameters and constrained installation environments.

Applications

  • Dynamic shaft vibration and radial position monitoring on small rotating machinery
  • Axial shaft position and thrust displacement measurements
  • Keyphasor and speed measurement applications
  • Machinery with limited mounting clearance or narrow access ports
  • Wet environments or machine casings requiring fluid containment via FluidLoc cable sealing

Coaxial Center Conductor Signal (High / Dynamic voltage)
Coaxial Outer Conductor (Shield) Common / Return signal path
Connector Coupling ClickLoc quick-connect to female coaxial interface on extension cable

Installation Guidelines

  • Grounding: Ensure the outer shield of the extension cable is electrically isolated from the machinery ground at the probe end and properly connected to the monitor ground at the Proximitor end.
  • Mounting: Standard mount M8 x 1 thread requires the locknut to be secured with a maximum torque of 7.3 N-m (65 in-lb) to prevent damage. The recommended torque is 5.1 N-m (45 in-lb).
  • Thread Engagement: Do not exceed the standard class fit limits of 12 mm maximum to prevent binding during installation.
  • Cable Routing: Maintain a minimum cable bend radius of 25.4 mm (1.0 in) to prevent internal conductor damage.
  • Connector Protection: Use self-fusing silicone tape to protect the connection between the probe and extension cable from environmental contamination, except in applications where it is directly exposed to turbine oil.

Compliance and Certifications

This device complies with Part 15 of the FCC Rules. It is also compliant with applicable European Union CE EMC directives. Option 00 designates that no hazardous area agency approvals or safety-agency markings are required or supplied under this option configuration.

Technical Datasheet

Bently Nevada 330173-00-05-10-12-00 3300 Sonde de proximité 5 mm

What is the purpose of the FluidLoc cable option on this 3300 5mm probe?

The FluidLoc cable (Option 12) prevents lubricating oil and other process liquids from leaking out of the machine housing through the internal spaces of the coaxial cable.

What are the mounting thread and case specifications for the 330173-00-05-10-12-00 probe?

This probe has an M8 x 1 metric thread with a 50 mm overall case length (Option 05) and is fully threaded with 0.0 mm of unthreaded length (Option 00).

Can this probe be used in hazardous locations?

Option 00 designates that no hazardous area agency approvals are required. For installations in hazardous areas requiring certifications like ATEX, CSA, or IECEx, a configuration ending in Option 05 should be selected.

What is the total length of this configuration and its target material?

This configuration has an integrated total length of 1.0 meter (Option 10) and is calibrated by default for an AISI 4140 steel target.
