Description

330901-22-40-10-01-05: 3300 NSv proximity probe configured with a 1/4-28 UNF thread without armor. This specific model is defined by a 2.2-inch unthreaded case length (Option 22), a 4.0-inch overall case length (Option 40), and a 1.0-meter (39-inch) total length (Option 10). It features a miniature coaxial ClickLoc connector with an integrated fluorosilicone connector protector on standard fluoroethylene propylene (FEP) insulated cable (Option 01) and holds multiple hazardous area approvals (Option 05).

Unlike the armored 330902 variant, this unarmored model is intended for applications with tight physical routing and clearance constraints. The 3300 NSv proximity probe provides non-contact displacement measurements in environments with counterbore, side-view, or rear-view restrictions that prevent the use of standard 5 mm and 8 mm probe systems. It is optimized for small-bore rotating machinery, process gas compressors, and aeroderivative turbines to measure shaft radial vibration, axial position, and Keyphasor phase reference on small targets down to 13 mm (0.5 in) or shafts under 51 mm (2.0 in).

Features

  • Option 22 unthreaded case length specifies a 2.2-inch unthreaded section on a 1/4-28 UNF threaded steel body.
  • Option 40 case length provides a 4.0-inch overall case span for reliable mounting and depth positioning.
  • Option 10 total length of 1.0 meter integrates with matching extension cables to configure a 5.0-meter or 7.0-meter transducer system.
  • Option 01 ClickLoc connector includes a fluorosilicone connector protector to block oil and fluid contaminants from degrading the electrical signal.
  • Option 05 agency approval package certifies the probe for multiple international hazardous area standards, including ATEX, IECEx, and cNRTLus.
  • Gold-plated brass ClickLoc connectors lock securely in place to eliminate vibration-induced loose connections.
  • Patented TipLoc molding process creates a molecular bond between the polyphenylene sulfide tip and the stainless steel body.
  • Patented CableLoc design provides 220 N (50 lb) of pull strength to secure the cable to the probe tip.

Applications

Typical applications include:

  • Radial vibration and axial thrust position monitoring on high-speed centrifugal compressors.
  • Machinery protection on industrial gas turbines and refrigeration compressors.
  • Speed and zero-speed monitoring on small-bore rotating shafts smaller than 51 mm (2.0 in).
  • Phase reference measurements on flat targets smaller than 15 mm (0.6 in).

Installation Guidelines

To ensure proper mechanical fit and signal integrity during installation:

  • Thread Limits: For 1/4-28 UNF threads, the recommended maximum thread engagement length is 0.375 inches. Use a #3 or larger tap drill to prepare the mounting hole.
  • Tightening Torque: For standard 1/4-28 UNF probe cases, apply a recommended torque of 5.1 N m (45 in lb) and do not exceed the maximum limit of 7.3 N m (65 in lb).
  • Minimizing Cross-Talk: Maintain a minimum physical spacing of 25 mm (1.0 in) between adjacent transducer tips for axial measurements, and 23 mm (0.9 in) for radial vibration measurements.
  • Clearance Constraints: Ensure a minimum counterbore diameter of 9.5 mm (0.375 in) or a recommended minimum of 13 mm (0.5 in) around the probe tip to prevent target distortion.
  • Viton Seal Protection: Avoid sustained operating temperatures below -34 degC (-30 degF) to prevent premature hardening or failure of the internal pressure seal.

Compliance and Certifications

Equipped with Option 05, this probe meets major requirements for hazardous and explosive areas:

  • ATEX/IECEx: Intrinsically safe Ex ia IIC T5...T1 Ga and Ex ia IIIC T90C...T280C Dc; Non-sparking/increased safety Ex nA IIC T5...T1 Gc and Ex ec IIC T5...T1 Gc.
  • cNRTLus (North America): Class I, Zone 0, AEx/Ex ia IIC T5...T1 Ga, Class I, Division 1, Groups A, B, C, D; Class I, Zone 2, AEx/Ex nA/ec IIC T5...T1 Gc, Class I, Division 2, Groups A, B, C, D.
  • Ingress Protection: Rated IP68 for complete dust tightness and liquid resistance when used with the integrated connector protector.
