Product Overview
The IC200ALG320 (IC200-ALG-320) is a high-precision, 4-channel analog output module from the GE VersaMax family. It is designed to provide unipolar voltage signals ranging from 0 to +10 VDC to control proportional valves, variable speed drives, and other actuators in industrial automation systems. Known for its compact footprint and ease of integration, the IC200ALG320 converts digital data from the CPU or Network Interface Unit (NIU) into stable, low-noise analog signals. Its modular design allows for "Hot-Swapping" and easy DIN-rail mounting, making it a reliable choice for decentralized control in HVAC, water treatment, and light manufacturing applications.
Technical Configuration
The module features a 12-bit resolution, ensuring granular control over the output signal. Each of the four channels is independent, although they share a common ground. The VersaMax architecture separates the module electronics from the field wiring via a terminal base (sold separately), which allows for permanent wiring and simplified maintenance. The module includes internal diagnostics to monitor the health of the D/A converters and provides LED status indicators for "OK" and "User Power" to facilitate rapid on-site troubleshooting.

Technical FAQs
Does this module require external power to operate?
Yes. The IC200ALG320 requires an external +24 VDC power supply to drive the analog output circuits. This power is usually supplied through the terminal base. If the "User Power" LED is off, the analog outputs will not function even if the PLC is in Run mode.
What is the "Default" behavior if the PLC stops communicating?
During configuration in Proficy Machine Edition, you can set the "Hold Last State" or "Output Default" behavior. This ensures that if communication is lost, the 0-10V signal either stays at its current value or drops to a safe predefined voltage (usually 0V).
Can I use this module for 4-20mA current loops?
No. The IC200ALG320 is a voltage-only module (0-10V). For current loop applications, you would need the IC200ALG321 (which is the 0-20mA/4-20mA equivalent).
Engineering & Installation Guide
-
Signal Shielding: Analog signals are highly susceptible to electromagnetic interference (EMI). Always use shielded twisted-pair (STP) cabling. The shield should be grounded at the PLC end (the terminal base) and left floating at the actuator end to prevent ground loops.
-
Terminal Base Selection: This module is compatible with several terminal bases, such as the IC200TBT001 (Barrier style) or IC200TBP001 (Spring style). Ensure the base is correctly keyed to the "Analog Output" position to prevent the insertion of a different module type.
-
Load Impedance: Ensure the input impedance of the receiving device (e.g., a VFD) is at least 2 kOhms. Connecting a load with too low an impedance will cause the voltage to drop and may trigger a thermal overload within the module's output stage.
