The EL1262 is the standard tension clamp terminal. For applications requiring pluggable wiring harnesses, the ES1262 variant should be utilized. Note that oversampling configurations require TwinCAT 2.11 or higher, and the terminal must be integrated into an EtherCAT segment where the master supports Distributed Clocks (DC).
A common configuration error is disabling Distributed Clocks in the TwinCAT system manager. If DC is not activated, the oversampling buffer will fail to synchronize, resulting in cycle counter mismatches and invalid process data. Ensure that the E-bus power budget is verified during design; the EL1262 draws 70 mA from the E-bus, which can cause communication drops if the coupler's power supply limit is exceeded.
Because of the sub-microsecond response time, the inputs are highly sensitive to high-frequency noise. Always use shielded, twisted-pair cabling for the sensor connections and terminate the shields directly to Terminals 7 and 8. Ensure the DIN rail is properly grounded to the cabinet's functional earth to maintain signal integrity.
Mount the terminal onto a standard 35 mm DIN rail (conforming to EN 60715) by sliding it down until the locking mechanism clicks firmly into place.
Connect adjacent terminals using the integrated double slot and key connection system to establish E-bus continuity.
Strip the sensor wires to 8–9 mm. Use a flat-blade screwdriver to actuate the spring-clamp terminal, insert the conductor, and release the clamp to secure the wire.
Verify the E-bus and field power LED indicators upon system startup to confirm correct electrical and communication status.
