Product Description

Description

The Emerson PR9268/300-000 absolute vibration transducer operates on the seismic low-tuned measuring principle to deliver precise absolute vibration measurements for machinery protection systems. Designed primarily for horizontal measurement applications, the electro-dynamic sensor utilizes a measuring coil suspended on membrane springs as its seismic mass. When operated above the natural resonance frequency, the seismic coil remains stationary, generating a voltage signal directly proportional to the vibration velocity through the relative movement between the resting coil and the moving transducer housing. Housed in durable materials with splash-proof protection, this device provides continuous asset monitoring and machinery protection in hostile industrial monitoring applications. It is fully compatible with professional machinery health protection systems and cards, such as the A6120 bearing vibration monitor and the A6500-xR system rack monitoring modules.

Features

  • Designed for reliable machinery protection systems and continuous vibration monitoring
  • Electro-dynamic mechanical spring-mass sensor operating on a low-tuned seismic principle
  • Configured for horizontal measurement orientation with an operating temperature tolerance up to 100 degC
  • Available with additional cable protection via a built-in armored cable structure
  • Flexible integration options with or without an industrial Harting connector interface

Applications

  • Industrial machinery protection systems
  • Bearing vibration monitoring structures
  • Power generation plants and heavy rotating equipment protection
  • Hostile industrial process environments requiring continuous asset health monitoring

Installation Guidelines

  • Handling Precautions: Do not expose the transducer to hard mechanical shocks and do not drop it. Hard impacts can lead to critical internal damage, causing impairment or total loss of sensitivity.
  • Mounting Surface: Mount the transducer firmly on a flat, clean surface using three through-bores for M6 screws or three blind hole threads for M4 screws (maximum thread depth 10 mm). Firmly tighten the mounting components to ensure accurate vibration transmission and measurement.
  • Mounting Angle Constraints: The transducer is optimized for a horizontal nominal measuring direction (90 deg position). Without a lifting or sinking current, the maximum allowed angular deviation from the nominal position is ±10 deg.
  • Lifting/Sinking Currents: When mounted with an angular deviation between ±60 deg and ±80 deg, a lifting current must be enabled via the system configuration software (maximum 1.8 mA at 60 deg deviation) to position the seismic mass accurately into the center of its working range. If deviation spans ±100 deg to ±120 deg, a corresponding sinking current must be utilized.
  • Cable Routing: Install the sensor connection cable without any structural torsion or elongation. Protect the cable from external environmental hazards. If using a model with a stainless steel armored protection hose, secure the hose with a clamp located as close to the transducer body as possible.
  • Grounding and Shielding: The metal protection hose on armored cable versions is fully insulated from the cable shield and the transducer housing. Ensure the system installation conforms to standard EMC regulations.
