Installation Guidelines

  • Chassis Mounting: Seat the controller into any available slot of a compatible ControlLogix chassis (1756-A4, 1756-A7, 1756-A10, 1756-A13, or 1756-A17) until the module levers lock firmly in place.
  • USB Connection: Use the front panel USB 2.0 port for temporary local connection, programming, and firmware flashing. Do not use the USB port in hazardous locations.
  • Energy Storage Module: Verify that an approved capacitor-based energy storage module (1756-ESMCAP or 1756-ESMNSE) is properly installed to retain state data during power loss.
  • Cooling and Ventilation: Maintain adequate clearance around the chassis inside the enclosure to ensure proper airflow and prevent ambient operating temperatures from exceeding 60 degC.
