Product Description

Description

The Allen-Bradley 1756-CNB is a high-performance ControlLogix ControlNet bridge communication module designed to interface a ControlLogix chassis with a ControlNet network. Operating on standard media, this module facilitates reliable, deterministic data exchange across industrial automation architectures using the Common Industrial Protocol (CIP).

Engineered for seamless integration into standard ControlLogix rack environments, the 1756-CNB handles both scheduled I/O data transfers and unscheduled messaging. It bridges critical control and information data between the ControlLogix backplane and external ControlNet nodes, ensuring synchronized and repeatable communication for complex manufacturing and process control applications.

Features

  • Provides high-speed 5 Mbps ControlNet communication rate over standard coaxial media.
  • Supports between 40 and 48 Logix communication connections for flexible system configuration.
  • Bridges control data seamlessly between the ControlLogix backplane and ControlNet network nodes.
  • Supports deterministic, repeatable transfers for time-critical I/O updates and controller-to-controller interlocking.
  • Compatible with standard ControlLogix chassis slots for straightforward installation and expansion.

Applications

  • Plant-wide and cell-level data sharing between multiple controllers and distributed I/O drops.
  • High-speed transfer of time-critical control data in discrete manufacturing systems.
  • Integration of legacy ControlNet devices into modern ControlLogix architectures.
  • Multi-controller systems requiring deterministic peer-to-peer communication and messaging.
