Description

The 1761-L32AWA is a fixed-I/O MicroLogix 1000 programmable controller for standalone machine and process control. It integrates an AC power supply, processor, memory, discrete I/O, and serial communication functions.

The controller provides 20 digital inputs for 120V AC field signals and 12 relay outputs. The relay contacts can switch supported AC or DC loads used by contactors, motor starters, solenoids, indicators, and other control devices.

A built-in RS-232 interface supports DF1 communication for programming, monitoring, and controller communication. The control program is retained in nonvolatile EEPROM memory.

The compact controller supports DIN rail or screw mounting inside an industrial enclosure. Horizontal mounting provides the full specified operating temperature range.

Installation Guidelines

  • Install the controller inside an enclosure.
  • Mount the controller horizontally when the full operating temperature range is required.
  • Use either a DIN rail or mounting screws for horizontal installation.
  • Use mounting screws for greater stability when mounting vertically.
  • Position the nameplate downward for vertical mounting.
  • Maintain at least 50.8 mm of clearance at the top, bottom, and sides.
  • Keep the protective wrap installed while drilling and wiring.
  • Prevent metal chips and wire fragments from entering the controller.
  • Remove the protective wrap after wiring to prevent overheating.
  • Connect the functional earth terminal directly to the ground bus.
  • Use the heaviest permitted conductor for the ground connection.
  • Tighten terminal screws to no more than 0.9 N.m.
  • Install surge suppression directly across inductive loads.
  • Position suppression devices as close as possible to the controlled load.
  • Do not connect or disconnect equipment while energized in a hazardous location.
  • Use only approved communication cables in Class I, Division 2 installations.
