Product Description

Description

The BECKHOFF BC8150 is a compact RS232 Bus Terminal Controller designed to integrate serial communication functionality within the modular Beckhoff Bus Terminal system. Acting as a decentralized controller, this device executes local PLC programs using TwinCAT while maintaining serial communication over an RS232 interface. It provides an efficient platform for localized control and interface adaptation in automated systems.

This controller operates either as a standalone PLC or as a decentralized intelligence unit within a larger automation network. The BECKHOFF BC8150 manages connection with up to 64 Bus Terminals, which can be expanded up to 255 terminals using a K-bus extension. Its flexibility makes it highly suitable for modular machine control, serial data acquisition, and interfacing with third-party serial devices.

Features

  • Localized PLC functionality programmable with TwinCAT according to IEC 61131-3 standards
  • Integrated RS232 interface via a standard D-sub connection
  • Flexible protocol support including KS8000, Modbus RTU, Modbus ASCII, and serial ADS
  • Integrated address switch for straightforward configuration of Modbus RTU/ASCII communication
  • Direct control of up to 64 local Bus Terminals, expandable up to 255 terminals with a K-bus extension
  • Compact terminal housing with signal LEDs for real-time diagnostic and status monitoring
  • Standard DIN-rail mounting for direct integration into standard electrical cabinets

Applications

  • Decentralized machine control requiring localized processing and RS232 serial communication
