Description

The BECKHOFF IP1502-B730 is a high-performance Fieldbus Box designed to count fast digital pulses within Modbus RTU/ASCII networks. Operating directly in harsh industrial environments without a protective control cabinet, this device integrates two 32-bit high-speed counter channels capable of processing input frequencies up to 100 kHz.

The module incorporates two counter inputs, two gate inputs, and two up/down direction switches. This configuration allows flexible pulse processing, direction detection, and counting gate control. Field signals are connected via standard M12 screw-type connectors, while the integrated sensor supply provides short-circuit protected power directly to the connected encoders or proximity sensors.

Communication with the higher-level controller is established using Modbus RTU or ASCII protocols over an RS485 physical interface. Device configuration, including address and baud rate selection, can be performed using local address selection switches or the KS2000 commissioning software. The physical design features a compact polyamide housing with IP65, IP66, and IP67 protection ratings, enabling direct on-machine mounting.

Installation Guidelines

1. De-energize: Prior to starting any installation, wiring, or maintenance work, ensure all power supplies to the module and field devices are fully disconnected.
2. Mounting: Mount the module directly on a flat machine surface using the two 3.5 mm diameter fixing holes. Use M3 screws, tightening them securely to prevent vibration damage.
3. Power Supply Connection: Connect the 24 V DC control voltage feed to the 4-pin M8 male connector. If daisy-chaining power, connect the downstream M8 female connector to the next module. Verify polarity before energizing.
4. Fieldbus Wiring: Connect the Modbus RS485 communication line to the B-coded M12 5-pin socket. Ensure proper termination is applied at both ends of the bus segment.
5. Sensor and Signal Wiring: Connect the sensors to the M12 screw-type input connectors. Ensure that the total current drawn by the connected sensors does not exceed 0.5 A.
6. Configuration: Set the appropriate Modbus node address using the integrated address selection switches, or configure the communication parameters using the KS2000 software.
