Product Description

Description

The BECKHOFF KL4004 is a 4-channel analog output Bus Terminal designed to generate high-precision control signals in the range of 0 to 10 V. Operating within the modular Beckhoff Bus Terminal system, this terminal serves as a reliable interface between automation control systems and physical analog actuators such as speed drives, valves, and setpoint adjusters.

Signals are processed and output with a 12-bit resolution, ensuring stable and accurate control. The BECKHOFF KL4004 features a single-ended circuit design and does not feature power contacts, meaning its internal electronics are powered entirely via the K-bus. It also provides 500 V of electrical isolation between the internal K-bus and the analog signal voltage to protect sensitive control electronics.

Features

  • Four analog output channels supporting 0 to 10 V signals.
  • 12-bit resolution for precise analog control loops.
  • Short-circuit proof outputs with load resistance handling greater than 5 kOhm.
  • Internal galvanic isolation of 500 V between the K-bus and the output channels.
  • Compact, space-saving terminal housing with integrated status LEDs.
  • No power contacts, drawing current exclusively from the K-bus.

Applications

  • Speed control for frequency converters and servo drives.
  • Analog valve position control in fluid power and HVAC systems.
  • Setpoint adjustment in testing and calibration stations.
  • Distributed industrial control systems using Beckhoff Bus Couplers.

Installation Guidelines

  1. Ensure the entire control system and associated power supplies are fully de-energized before beginning installation or removal.
  2. Mount the terminal onto a standard 35 mm DIN rail (EN 60715) by sliding it into place until the locking mechanism clicks securely.
  3. Connect the terminal side-by-side with other Bus Terminals using the integrated slot-and-key system, ensuring physical and electrical contact with the K-bus.
  4. Strip the signal wire insulation to a length of 8 to 9 mm.
  5. Insert a small screwdriver into the operating slot of the cage clamp to open the wire clamp, insert the conductor, and release to secure.
  6. Note that the terminal has no power contacts; no power is fed through the adjacent terminals. Ensure appropriate field ground or external supply routing for connected analog devices.
