Description

The Bently Nevada 106M1079-01 is a half-height Universal AC Power Supply Module engineered for the 3500 Series Machinery Protection System. This module serves as a primary or redundant power source, converting a broad range of high-voltage alternating current inputs into stable regulated internal voltages required by other monitoring and communication modules in the same rack. It must be installed in designated slots on the left side of the 3500 rack structure, where it can provide full system power independently or run in tandem with a secondary backup power supply without interrupting ongoing machinery protection operations. The 106M1079-01 configuration ensures steady electrical delivery for continuous vibration, position, and speed monitoring functions in critical high-speed rotating industrial machinery setups.

Features

  • Half-height module construction optimizing left-side rack slot utilization
  • Supports full rack power delivery from a single module solution
  • Hot-swappable dual-redundancy architecture permitting live replacement without disrupting operational monitor channels
  • Integrated front-panel "SUPPLY OK" LED status indicator for immediate technical validation
  • Broad universal AC input tolerance adapting directly to fluctuating plant electrical grids

Applications

  • Redundant power distribution for critical 3500 Series Machinery Protection Systems
  • Continuous turbine, compressor, and large motor vibration tracking stations
  • High-availability oil, gas, and power generation industrial processing facilities

Installation Guidelines

  • Slot Allocation: Ensure the power supply module is inserted exclusively into the half-height slots located on the left side of the 3500 machinery protection rack.
  • Redundancy Setup: When configuring a dual-redundant power setup, install the primary module in the lower slot and the backup module in the upper slot.
  • Module Compatibility: Do not attempt to mate the universal AC power supply with legacy High Voltage AC or Low Voltage AC PIMs, as they are completely incompatible.
  • Ventilation and Environment: Ensure proper clearance and air cross-flow to maintain ambient operations within the boundaries of -30 degC to +65 degC.

Compliance and Certifications

  • FCC: Complies with part 15 of the FCC Rules.
  • EMC Directives: European Community Directive 2014/30/EU; Standards EN 61000-6-2 (Immunity) and EN 61000-6-4 (Emissions).
  • Electrical Safety: European Community Directive: LV Directive 2014/35/EU; Standards: EN 61010-1.
  • RoHS: European Community Directive 2011/65/EU.
  • Maritime: DNV GL rules for classification (Ships, offshore units, high speed/light craft); ABS Rules for Condition of Classification Part 1, Steel Vessels Rules, Offshore Units and Structures.
  • North American Hazardous Area Approvals (CNRTLUS): Class I, Zone 2: AEx/Ex nA nC ic IIC T4 Gc; Class I, Zone 2: AEx/Ex ec nC ic IIC T4 Gc; Class I, Division 2, Groups A, B, C, and D; T4 @ Ta = -20 degC to +65 degC.
  • ATEX/IECEx: II 3 G; Ex nA nC ic IIC T4 Gc; Ex ec nC ic IIC T4 Gc; T4 @ Ta = -20 degC to +65 degC.

FAQ

What happens if one power supply fails in a dual-supply system?

If two power supplies are installed, the lower module is the primary and the upper is the backup. If one fails, the other automatically maintains full rack operation without any disruption to the system.

Is this module backwards compatible with older legacy Bently Nevada power inputs?

No. The universal AC power supply module and its corresponding Power Input Module (PIM) are entirely incompatible with legacy 3500 AC power supplies and legacy PIM components.

What fuse should be used to protect the associated power entry interface?

The matching universal AC Power Input Module utilizes a fast-blow replacement fuse rated at 5A/500 Vac with physical dimensions of 6.3 mm x 32 mm.
