The 21000 series features an aluminum body standard for general industrial settings. For highly corrosive marine or chemical-washdown environments, the stainless steel 21005 series housing is the recommended physical drop-in upgrade. Always verify that the probe thread and sleeve length match your existing 3300 or 3300 XL transducer configuration.
When sizing sleeve lengths, avoid choosing a sleeve that is too long for the available clearance. If the sleeve is driven directly into the shaft during machinery start-up, it will destroy the proximity probe tip and potentially score the target shaft. Keep the internal O-ring seal lubricated to prevent moisture intrusion, which can lead to rapid signal drift or ground faults in the driver loop.
Always apply a non-setting, high-temperature thread lubricant to the dome cover threads during commissioning. Aluminum-to-aluminum threads are prone to galling, which can make future probe calibrations or replacements extremely difficult without damaging the housing body.
De-energize all associated sensor drivers and confirm that the local atmosphere is free of combustible gases before opening the housing cover or adjusting the probe in classified hazardous zones.
