Description

The 21504-000-008-05-02 is a 7200 Series 8 mm standard mount proximity probe designed for non-contacting shaft position and vibration measurements. This configuration features an 8 mm probe tip, 0.0 inch unthreaded length (Option 000), 0.8 inch case length (Option 008), a 0.5 metre integral coaxial cable (Option 05), and a miniature male coaxial connector (Option 02).

This transducer system operates on the eddy-current principle, measuring the static and dynamic distance between the probe tip and the observed surface. It is engineered for critical machinery applications, including gas and steam turbines, compressors, pumps, and electric motors. The 8 mm probe is constructed from polyphenylene sulfide (PPS), a high-performance plastic capable of withstanding harsh, wet, or chemically active environments. This system provides an 80 mil (2 mm) linear measuring range with a scale factor of 200 mV/mil.

Features

  • 8 mm probe diameter with 1/4-28 UNF thread (Standard Mount configuration)
  • CableLoc feature secures the coaxial cable to the probe tip for increased durability
  • Constructed from PPS (polyphenylene sulfide) for high chemical and environmental resistance
  • Frequency response of 0 Hz (DC) to 10 kHz
  • Compatible with 7200 Series Proximitors and monitoring systems
  • Integral coaxial cable length of 0.5 metre

Applications

  • Radial vibration measurements for bearing condition monitoring
  • Axial thrust position measurement for detecting bearing wear
  • Shaft average radial position to determine attitude angle and rotor stability
  • Vibration amplitude and phase angle for Polar and Bode plotting
  • Eccentricity measurements for rotor bow detection

Installation Guidelines

Ensure the probe is mounted securely to avoid mechanical resonance. When routing the coaxial cable, protect against physical abuse and vibration. Maintain proper probe gap during initial calibration to ensure the linear range is centered at the nominal operating position. This probe is compatible with standard 7200 Series Proximitors; ensure that the extension cable (if used) matches the system requirements for a total length of 5 or 9 metres.

Technical Datasheet

Bently Nevada 21504-000-008-05-02 7200 Series 5 mm and 8 mm Standard Mount Probe

What does the 000 code represent in this 21504 part number?

The 000 code corresponds to the unthreaded length option, which is 0.0 inches for this specific configuration.

Is this probe compatible with existing 3300 or 9000 systems?

The 7200 Series transducer systems are generally compatible with 3300 and 9000 Monitoring Systems. Please verify your specific monitor card compatibility before installation.

What is the primary material of the 8 mm probe tip?

The 8 mm probe tip is constructed of polyphenylene sulfide (PPS), which is a high-performance plastic resistant to harsh environments and various chemicals.

Does this probe require an extension cable?

This SKU includes a 0.5 metre integral cable. The system length must be matched to the Proximitor used (typically 5 or 9 metres).
