Installation Guidelines

• Probe Gapping: Mount the probe with the appropriate physical gap from the target surface (typically 1.27 mm or 50 mils for standard calibration, corresponding to -10 VDC output) before locking it into position.
• Cable Routing: Avoid sharp bends when routing the unarmored cable. Ensure the cable is supported and run through dedicated protective conduit if exposed to physical hazard or extreme mechanical wear.
• Grounding & Shielding: Connect the outer shield of the probe cable to the instrument ground inside the Proximitor sensor housing. Avoid multiple ground points to prevent ground loops.
• Mechanical Clearance: Maintain a minimum radial clearance around the probe tip of at least 3 probe diameters (approximately 24 mm) from any surrounding metal to avoid eddy-current side-loading effects.
• Locking: Tighten mounting nuts securely to the machinery housing or bracket to prevent drift due to structural vibration. Do not exceed recommended torque limits for 3/8-24 UNF threads.
