Installation Guidelines

Proper gap configuration and mounting stability are essential to avoid mechanical damage or signal interference. Follow these criteria during installation:

• Thread Engagement: Ensure a maximum thread engagement of 15 mm to prevent binding or thread deformation during installation.
• Gap Setting: Set the initial mechanical probe gap to approximately 1.27 mm (50 mils), which corresponds to a nominal output of -9 Vdc on the 3300 XL Proximitor sensor for standard radial vibration targets.
• Cable Handling: Avoid bending the 3.68 mm coaxial cable to a radius of less than 25.4 mm (1.0 in) to prevent internal conductor damage. Do not route the unarmored cable over sharp edges or burrs.
• Connector Torque: Hand-tighten the miniature ClickLoc coaxial connectors. Do not use tools to torque the connectors unless pairing with a non-XL stainless steel connector, in which case a 1/8-turn with pliers is recommended.
• Grounding and Shielding: Connect the outer coaxial shield directly to the Proximitor sensor housing, and ensure the housing is electrically isolated from any local machine grounds to prevent ground loops.
