Description

330901-00-40-10-02-05: This 3300 NSv proximity probe is configured without stainless steel armor and operates as a non-contact sensor within the 3300 XL NSv proximity transducer system. This specific configuration features a 1/4-28 UNF thread with 0.0 in of unthreaded length (Option 00), 4.0 in overall case length (Option 40), and 1.0 m total cable length (Option 10). It is equipped with a miniature coaxial ClickLoc connector (Option 02) and has multiple hazardous area agency approvals (Option 05).

The 3300 NSv proximity probe is an eddy-current sensor designed for industrial machinery with small shaft diameters, tight mounting clearance, or restricted target profiles. While standard 8 mm probes suffer from side-view interference in compact geometries, this narrow system probe provides reliable lateral spacing performance. It is used alongside the 330980 Proximitor Sensor and 330930 extension cable to monitor shaft vibration, axial position, and radial displacement on high-speed pumps, compressors, and aeroderivative gas turbines.

Features

  • Option 00 specifies a 0.0 in unthreaded length, allowing full thread engagement for short tap mounting depths.
  • Option 40 provides a 4.0 in overall threaded case length to clear thick machine casings or brackets.
  • Option 10 delivers a 1.0 m (39 in) standard FEP-insulated coaxial cable.
  • Option 02 features a miniature coaxial ClickLoc connector for quick-disconnect installation without an integrated connector protector.
  • Option 05 certifies the probe for multiple hazardous area approvals, enabling deployment in explosion-proof and intrinsically safe environments.
  • Constructed with a polyphenylene sulfide (PPS) probe tip and AISI 304 stainless steel case for robust chemical and fluid resistance.
  • Maintains a 1.5 mm (60 mils) linear range with a nominal 1.0 mm (40 mils) gap setting.

Applications

  • Radial vibration and axial position measurements on small-diameter machinery shafts.
  • Vibration monitoring on high-speed aeroderivative gas turbines with limited internal geometries.
  • Monitoring of centrifugal compressors, industrial pumps, and generators.
  • Targeted sensing on rotating machinery where narrow clearances limit standard eddy-current probe sizes.

Installation Guidelines

Maintain a minimum separation of 25 mm (1.0 in) for axial measurements and 23 mm (0.9 in) for radial vibration configurations when mounting probes parallel to prevent mutual electromagnetic cross-talk. For threaded 1/4-28 UNF mounting holes, a #3 or larger tap drill is recommended. Limit probe installation torque to a maximum of 7.3 N m (65 in lb), with a recommended mounting torque of 5.1 N m (45 in lb) to avoid thread binding or case damage. Coaxial connectors must be hand-tightened or torqued to a maximum of 0.56 N m (5 in lb) when using tools. Connector protective sleeves or self-fusing silicone tape should be applied to connections if they are exposed to moisture, turbine oil, or industrial fluids.

Compliance and Certifications

The Option 05 Multiple Approvals package certified under this configuration includes:

  • CSA: Class I, Division 1, Groups A, B, C, and D; Class II, Groups E, F, and G; Class III.
  • ATEX/IECEx: Ex ia IIC T5...T1 Ga; Ex ia IIIC T90 degC...T280 degC Dc.
  • CE Mark: Features built-in RFI/EMI immunity for industrial applications.

Bently Nevada 330901-00-40-10-02-05 3300 NSv Proximity Probe

What is the configuration of the Bently Nevada 330901-00-40-10-02-05 probe?

This probe configuration features a 1/4-28 UNF thread with 0.0 inches of unthreaded length, an overall case length of 4.0 inches, a total cable length of 1.0 meter (39 inches), a standard coaxial ClickLoc connector, and multiple hazardous area agency approvals.

Why is the 3300 NSv system used instead of the standard 3300 XL 8 mm system?

The 3300 NSv (Narrow System) is designed for applications with small shaft diameters, confined clearances, or small target areas where standard 8 mm probes would suffer from side-view or cross-talk interference.

What is the recommended gap setting and scale factor for this probe?

The recommended gap setting is 1.0 mm (40 mils), which corresponds to the midpoint of its 1.5 mm (60 mils) linear range. It operates with an Average Scale Factor of 7.87 V/mm (200 mV/mil).

Does this standard probe include stainless steel armor?

No, the 330901-00-40-10-02-05 configuration does not include stainless steel armor. It uses standard FEP-insulated coaxial cabling.
