The Emerson SS6501T01 DeltaV SIS Redundant CSLS Assembly - Copper is a Safety Integrity Level 3 (SIL 3) capable logic solver module designed for process safety applications within the DeltaV SIS system. It integrates I/O processing, safety logic execution, and diagnostics into a single redundant logic solver assembly using Emerson Electronic Marshalling technology. The SS6501T01 connects directly to standard copper Ethernet infrastructure for redundant Safety Network Port (SNP) communications on the Local Safety Network (LSN).

The module supports execution of safety instrumented functions (SIF) with deterministic execution rates independent of system size. Operating in lock-step mode, the redundant CSLS pair provides bumpless switchover upon fault detection without process disturbance. Integrated HART I/O capabilities pass field diagnostics directly to the logic solver and support partial stroke testing for digital valve controllers. The unit mounts via DIN rail latching and interfaces with up to 8 CHARM baseplates (supporting up to 96 individually configurable LS CHARM channels).

Installation Guidelines

  • Mount the CSLS carrier vertically at the top of the T-type DIN rail using the integrated rail latches.
  • Install a DIN rail stop (VE4054DRS) to secure the assembly in position.
  • Connect dual 24 V DC field power feeds to the redundant power connections on the carrier.
  • Attach copper twisted-pair Ethernet cables (10/100BASE-TX) to the primary and secondary Safety Network Ports (SNP) with a maximum cable distance of 100 meters.
  • Attach up to eight CHARM baseplates below the carrier assembly and install bus termination at the end of the physical bus.
  • Ensure cabinet installations meet IP20 requirements and maintain adequate spacing for cooling.
