Description

The IS200VVIBH1CAC is a dedicated vibration monitor board engineered for the Mark VI control system. This module processes incoming analog signals received from up to 14 Bently Nevada proximity probes connected via the TVIB terminal board, enabling precise shaft vibration monitoring in critical machinery. The board digitizes these vibration signatures using high-resolution analog-to-digital conversion and transmits the processed data directly across a VME bus to the main controller for continuous diagnostics and system logic execution. Built using surface mount technology, it supports expandable architectures where multiple terminal boards or redundant pairs can interface with a single processing unit, ensuring uninterrupted signal availability. Additionally, the IS200VVIBH1CAC features a dedicated generator breaker coil output rated at 5A at 125 V dc to facilitate protective tripping sequences.

Features

  • Interfaces with up to 14 Bently Nevada proximity probes for full shaft vibration diagnostics.
  • Converts incoming analog signals using a high-precision 16-bit analog-to-digital converter.
  • Transmits real-time digitized parameters over a high-speed VME bus architecture.
  • Supports dual terminal board configurations to ensure system redundancy and fallback capability.
  • Offers dual-rate sampling configurations automatically adjusted based on machine RPM thresholds.
  • Outputs buffered signals with high amplitude accuracy to external machinery analysis systems.

Applications

  • Gas turbine shaft vibration monitoring
  • Steam turbine proximity and position measurement
  • Generator breaker control systems
  • Industrial rotating machinery protection

Installation Guidelines

  • Power down the VME processor rack completely before attempting insertion or removal to prevent electrical hazards.
  • Align the module with the designated guide rails and carefully slide the board into the slot within the VME rack.
  • Seat the edge connectors firmly by pushing the top and bottom front panel levers inward simultaneously.
  • Tighten the captive screws located at the top and bottom of the front faceplate to fix the module securely in place.
  • Verify all cable connections and visually inspect alignment before re-powering the VME processor rack.

How are the external vibration probes powered by the system?

The connected proximity probes receive -24 V dc power derived from the internal -28 V dc bus. Each individual probe supply is current-limited to a maximum load of 12 mA to protect against electrical overloads.

What are the channel limitations based on operating RPM?

For machinery operating above 4,000 rpm, up to eight channels can be assigned to vibration monitoring, with the rest reserved for position or proximity. For machinery below 4,000 rpm, all 16 channels can be utilized concurrently.

How does the module communicate processed vibration data to the controller?

The device digitizes incoming probe signals and routes them across the VME bus directly to the Mark VI controller, ensuring real-time data availability for control and protection loops.
