The 621-9933 is functionally designed to support multi-slot I/O racks in legacy installations. When replacing older revisions of IPC 621 power modules, confirm the backplane slot dimensions, as early generation chassis variants may require adjustment of the mounting guide brackets to secure a tight bus connection.
Because this is a passively cooled, high-density module, heat dissipation occurs primarily through the top and bottom chassis vents. Mounting the I/O rack in completely sealed, unventilated NEMA panels along with high-heat-generation terminal relays may cause the power supply's thermal protection circuits to trip, resulting in intermittent backplane drops.
Always verify the position of the physical input voltage selector jumper before applying power. Supplying 230 VAC while the system is set to 115 VAC will cause immediate failure of the internal input varistors and protective fuses, requiring complete depot-level repair.
CRITICAL WARNING:
Ensure all upstream branch circuit breakers are fully locked out and tagged out before wiring terminals. Dangerous voltages remain on internal capacitive structures for up to 3 minutes after external de-energization. Verify zero potential using a properly calibrated multimeter.
Slide the module firmly into its designated power supply slot on the left side of the IPC 620 rack framework until the bus connectors are fully mated.
Secure the mechanical retaining screws at the top and bottom of the module plate to prevent operational vibration from backing the unit out of its slot.
Confirm input voltage selection is matched (115V or 230V) and connect power lines to the input screw terminals using insulated ring lugs. Ensure solid grounding to the main enclosure backplate.
