Description

Designed to integrate decentralized fieldbus networks with modular I/O hardware, the BECKHOFF BK3110 is a high-performance PROFIBUS Bus Coupler that links Beckhoff Bus Terminals to PROFIBUS DP and DPV1 protocols. Operating as a decentralized station, this coupler provides modular system expansion, managing up to 64 individual Bus Terminals and supporting a maximum of 256 digital inputs and outputs on a single bus node.

The BK3110 functions as a gateway, translating the physical transfer technology of the PROFIBUS DP network to the internal, terminal-specific K-bus. This ensures clean, low-latency communication with the host PLC or DCS. High-speed transmission rates up to 12 Mbaud are supported, providing rapid update times for highly time-critical industrial processes. Configuration is completed dynamically via the higher-level master controller or locally utilizing the KS2000 configuration software interface.

Installation Guidelines

• Mounting: Mount horizontally or vertically on standard 35 mm DIN rails (EN 60715). Ensure the locking mechanism clicks securely onto the rail.
• Shielding: Keep the fieldbus cable shield securely grounded close to the entry point using appropriate shield terminal clamps. Use low-impedance connections for the grounding terminal.
• Thermal Considerations: Provide at least 30 mm of free ventilation space above and below the BK3110 unit to prevent heat accumulation.
• Power Supply Wiring: Disconnect all power sources before wiring the power contacts or signal terminals. Use standard industrial-grade copper wire matching current specifications.
