Product Description

Description

The 3500/15-02-00-00 is a high voltage AC power supply module designed for the 3500 Series Machinery Protection System. This half-height module installs into specialized slots on the left side of the 3500 rack to convert high voltage AC input into regulated voltages required by other system modules. Operating as a single supply or in a redundant dual-supply configuration, the 3500/15-02-00-00 ensures uninterrupted rack operation. In a dual setup, the lower slot houses the primary supply and the upper slot contains the backup supply; removing or inserting either module does not disrupt system operation. This specific configuration utilizes the high voltage AC power input module (PIM) and supports a nominal input voltage of 220 Vac rms.

Features

  • Half-height module design to maximize rack space efficiency.
  • Redundant power supply capability with automatic backup switching.
  • Hot-swappable replacement allowing module removal and insertion without disrupting rack operation.
  • Front panel "Supply OK" LED indicator for real-time operational status monitoring.
  • Integrated over-voltage protection that blows the input module fuse to protect internal components.
  • Under-voltage protection ensuring low voltage conditions will not damage the supply or PIM.

Applications

  • Turbo-machinery protection systems
  • Oil and gas refinery asset monitoring
  • Power generation turbine vibration and condition monitoring
  • Petrochemical plant machinery protection
  • Heavy industrial rotating equipment monitoring

Installation Guidelines

  • Rack Placement: Install the half-height power supply modules strictly into the specially designed slots located on the far left side of the 3500 rack.
  • Power Input Module: Mount the associated High Voltage AC Power Input Module (PIM) in the chassis position directly behind the main power supply module.
  • Redundancy Configuration: When deploying two power supplies for redundancy, place the primary supply in the lower slot and the backup supply in the upper slot.
  • Grounding: Securely connect the structural ground to the GND terminal on the rear Power Input Module to mitigate electromagnetic interference and ensure electrical safety.
  • Over-voltage Protection: Ensure the power source does not exceed 264 Vac rms, as over-voltage conditions will open the protective fuse on the PIM.
  • Hot-Swapping: When swapping modules, verify that at least one power supply remains active and operational to prevent system downtime.

Compliance and Certifications

  • EMC Standards: EN 61000-6-2 (Immunity for Industrial Environments), EN 55011/CISPR 11 (ISM Equipment), EN 61000-6-4 (Emissions for Industrial Environments)

FAQ
What is the consequence of an over-voltage condition on the module?
An over-voltage condition will cause the protective fuse to open on the Power Input Module (PIM), preventing damage to the power supply or the rest of the rack.
Can I hot-swap the power supply while the machinery protection system is running?
Yes. Removing or inserting a power supply module will not disrupt rack operation as long as a second functioning power supply remains installed in the rack.
How do the slots determine primary and backup roles in a redundant configuration?
When two power supplies are installed, the module in the lower slot automatically acts as the primary supply, while the module in the upper slot serves as the backup supply.
What are the exact voltage limits for this high voltage AC supply option?
The module accepts a nominal input of 220 Vac, with an operational range of 175 to 264 Vac rms (247 to 373 Vac pk).
