The power supply relies on a Power Input Module (PIM) installed on the back of the 3500 rack directly behind the main power supply module. Electrical terminal connections for the AC lines must be terminated securely onto the PIM screw-type terminals:

The legacy 3500/15-02-02-00 configuration features a 02-02-00 configuration mapping to high-voltage AC inputs for both active slots. This legacy configuration has been succeeded by the 3500/15-05-05-00 universal AC/DC power supply model. Racks that combine vintage 3500 monitors with newer modules can successfully host this supply; however, when upgrading from the -02-02-00 to the -05-05-00 configuration, ensure the rear Power Input Modules (PIMs) are updated matching the universal power architecture to prevent hardware mismatches.
Under fully loaded 3500 rack conditions (comprising dual supplies, transient data interfaces, and 14 fully loaded monitoring cards), internal power supply temperatures can run warm. If the rack is enclosed within a non-ventilated IP65-rated cabinet, ensure a calculated heat dissipation allowance is provided. When dual supplies are configured, connect the top and bottom supplies to separate, independent UPS sources to prevent a single upstream breaker trip from disabling the entire machinery protection system.
Never operate the 3500/15 rack power supply without a solid, low-impedance ground bonded from the PIM's ground terminal directly to the main cabinet ground bus. Floating neutral points or high-resistance ground connections can inject AC noise directly onto the backplane, potentially inducing noise onto sensitive 3-wire proximity sensor inputs (such as the 3300 XL series), which might result in false vibration spikes or instrumentation-induced trips.
Slide the main 3500/15-02-02-00 Power Supply Module chassis into the designated left-most slots at the front of the 3500 rack. Ensure the guide rails align perfectly and tighten the two front-panel retaining screws securely using a standard flat-head screwdriver.
Mount the corresponding Power Input Module (PIM) directly into the back-plane slot behind the power supply module. Secure it in place with its respective mounting hardware.
Connect the safety protective earth (PE) ground lead directly from the cabinet master ground strip to the ground terminal on the PIM using a minimum of 12 AWG copper wire.
Route and connect the Line (L) and Neutral (N) power wires (175 to 264 Vac) to the designated terminal screws. Verify torque on all connections, secure the terminal safety cover plate, and re-energize the supply circuit.
