A common configuration error is attempting to deploy differential pressure transmitters with long, unshielded cable runs on channels 1 through 12. Because differential inputs are restricted to channels 13-16, placing high-noise or floating transmitter loops on channels 1-12 can cause offset errors. If channels 13-16 are fully utilized, ground loop isolators must be installed externally on channels 1-12.
When utilizing HART diagnostics, confirm that the HART device polling rate in the Experion Control Builder is optimized. Unused channels should be disabled in the software configuration to prevent the onboard processor from scanning empty terminal links, which maintains optimal system cycle times and prevents spurious open-loop alarms.
