The Honeywell 8C-TDODA1 (51307149-175) is a 32-channel Digital Output Termination Assembly (IOTA) designed for the Experion PKS Series 8 I/O platform. This "Single" IOTA serves as the mounting base and field wiring interface for a single 8C-PDODA1 Digital Output module. It is engineered to drive 24 VDC discrete field devices such as solenoid valves, relays, and indicator lamps. The 8C-TDODA1 features the signature Series 8 vertical design, which significantly reduces the cabinet footprint while enhancing thermal management through natural convection. This specific version (51307149-175) is factory-treated with a G3 conformal coating, providing a critical layer of protection against moisture and corrosive atmospheric elements commonly found in industrial processing environments.
The 8C-TDODA1 (51307149-175) provides a ruggedized electrical interface for discrete control.
32-Channel Single-Ended Interface: Accommodates 32 digital output channels, allowing for high-density wiring and simplified common-return routing.
G3 Conformal Coating: The "175" suffix indicates compliance with ISA S71.04 Class G3, protecting the PCB and components from corrosive gases like Hydrogen Sulfide (H2S) and Chlorine (Cl2).
Vertical Series 8 Form Factor: Fits onto a standard Series 8 carrier, facilitating an efficient "chimney-effect" airflow that keeps the electronic module cool.
Built-in Circuit Protection: Designed to work with the I/O module’s diagnostic capabilities, including short-circuit protection and load monitoring.
Maintenance-Friendly Design: Allows for the electronic I/O module to be replaced ("hot-swapped") without disconnecting the field wiring terminals.

Can I use this IOTA in a redundant configuration?
No. The 8C-TDODA1 is a "Single" IOTA, meaning it has only one slot for an I/O module. For redundant DO applications where two modules back up each other, you must use the 8C-TDODB1 redundant IOTA.
What is the maximum current per channel?
While the module can drive typical 24 VDC solenoids, the total current capacity is limited. For high-current loads or high-frequency switching, it is highly recommended to use interposing relays to prevent thermal stress on the IOTA and module.
How is the field power provided to the outputs?
Field excitation power (24 VDC) is usually supplied through the Series 8 carrier busbar. The IOTA then distributes this power to the individual channels based on the commands from the C300 controller.
Wiring Precautions: Use ferrules on all field wiring to ensure reliable contact and prevent stray wire strands from shorting adjacent terminals in the high-density terminal block.
Grounding: Ensure the IOTA is firmly snapped into the carrier and that the carrier itself is properly bonded to the instrument ground bar. Inadequate grounding can lead to intermittent diagnostic errors and susceptibility to electromagnetic interference.
Fuse Management: Monitor the "Blown Fuse" diagnostics in the Experion software. If a fuse-protected circuit is used, identify and rectify the field-side short circuit before replacing the module or resetting the system.
Thermal Spacing: Maintain the manufacturer-specified 150 mm clearance above and below the IOTA row to ensure adequate cooling. Overheating is a primary cause of shortened electronic lifespan in high-density DC cabinets.
