Description

The Siemens 6GK5408-8GR00-2AM2 is a SCALANCE XM408-8C managed modular Industrial Ethernet (IE) switch designed for flexible network architectures. This module features a combination of 8x 10/100/1000 Mbit/s RJ45 ports and 8x 100/1000 Mbit/s SFP ports, configured as 8 combo ports, allowing 8 ports to be utilized simultaneously. Technical Specifications

Installation Guidelines

1. De-energize System: Ensure all power to the installation area and connected devices is completely de-energized before beginning installation.
2. Mounting: Securely mount the SCALANCE XM408-8C module onto a standard DIN rail or S7 mounting rail in a suitable industrial enclosure. Ensure adequate space for ventilation and cable routing.
3. Power Connection: Connect the power supply according to the module's specifications, observing correct polarity.
4. Ethernet Connections: Connect RJ45 Ethernet cables to the 10/100/1000 Mbit/s ports as required. For fiber optic connections, insert appropriate 100/1000 Mbit/s SFP transceivers into the designated SFP slots and connect fiber optic cables.
5. C-plug Insertion: Insert the included C-plug into its designated slot on the module. The C-plug stores configuration data and facilitates device replacement without re-configuration.
6. PROFINET Integration: Configure the module as a PROFINET IO device within the engineering software of the automation system.
7. Grounding: Ensure proper grounding of the module and the enclosure to minimize electromagnetic interference and ensure operational safety.
8. Cable Management: Route all cables neatly and securely, avoiding sharp bends and ensuring they do not obstruct cooling airflow. Separate power and signal cables to prevent interference.
