Description

Designed for compact drive applications, the BECKHOFF EL7201-9014 serves as a high-performance, single-channel motion interface for permanent magnet-excited three-phase synchronous motors. This compact EtherCAT Terminal integrates absolute feedback, One Cable Technology (OCT), and hard-wired Safe Torque Off (STO) functionality to meet functional safety requirements. Operating directly on the EtherCAT I/O bus, the terminal enables high-dynamic positioning control within a highly efficient, space-saving 12 mm High Density (HD) housing.

Installation Guidelines

  • Mounting: Install on standard 35 mm DIN rail conforming to EN 60715. Ensure robust grounding via the integrated PE contacts and secure latching.
  • Wiring: Connection is established via spring-actuated terminal blocks. Solid wires (0.08 to 1.5 mm / AWG 28 to 16) or stranded/ferruled wires (0.25 to 1.5 mm / AWG 22 to 16) may be used. Strip insulation 8 to 9 mm.
  • Thermal Management: Maintain sufficient cabinet ventilation. For sustained currents above 2.8 A (rms), mount the ZB8610 fan cartridge directly onto the terminal housing.
  • Shielding: Ensure the motor cable shielding is properly terminated to the designated ground connection to minimize electromagnetic noise.
