Description

Designed for seamless mechanical and electrical integration with CP6xxx and CP7xxx Control Panels and Panel PCs, the C9900-E798 provides tactile operator controls directly on the right side of the display unit. This physical push-button extension is optimized for 15-inch displays configured without an integrated keyboard, expanding local system interaction via robust control elements.

The unit features 20 illuminated push-buttons and a dedicated emergency stop button. Key press signals and lamp control commands interface with the main PC controller using a standard USB connection. For high-integrity or safety-critical circuits, a secondary mechanical contact block for each push-button is routed to a terminal strip, permitting direct wiring to safety relays or PLC digital inputs.

Features

  • Right-Side Mounting: Engineered to mount directly on the right side of CP6x23-00xx and CP7x23-00xx control units.
  • Tactile Control Elements: 20 push-button keys with integrated signal lamps (Siemens Signum square, 30 x 30 mm).
  • Integrated Safety Switch: 1 Siemens Signum emergency stop key, directly wireable for immediate integration into safety circuits.
  • Flexible Interface Dualism: Push-button signals route via USB (normally-open contact) with a second physical normally-open contact wired directly to an internal terminal strip.
  • Individual Labeling: Push-button caps feature clear, removable covers to allow custom-printed insert labels.
  • USB Signal Control: All integrated signal lamps are controlled directly via USB interface.

Applications

  • Machine tool human-machine interfaces (HMI)
  • Automotive assembly line operating panels
  • Process control desks and auxiliary monitoring consoles
  • Industrial safety system integration (using direct-wired emergency stop)

Terminal Row Direct mechanical connection for secondary push-button contacts
Emergency Stop Terminals Dedicated, isolated contacts for emergency stop safety loop

Installation Guidelines

  • Mechanical Attachment: Ensure the host Control Panel or Panel PC is powered down before mechanical assembly. Secure the extension housing tightly to the right flange of the screen enclosure using the specified mounting screws to maintain environmental ingress ratings.
  • Grounding and Shielding: Connect the functional ground wire of the extension housing to the central machine ground potential. Ensure the USB interface cable is fully shielded and routed away from high-noise AC lines.
  • Safety Wiring: The Emergency Stop contacts must be wired using a redundant, dual-channel configuration connected directly to an approved safety evaluation relay or safety PLC input module. Do not rely on the USB interface for emergency shutdown functions.
