Description

The 21504-04-36-05-02 is a 7200 series 8 mm standard mount proximity probe featuring a 0.4-inch unthreaded length, 3.6-inch case length, 0.5-metre integral cable, and a miniature male coaxial connector. This non-contacting, eddy-current transducer system is designed to measure static and dynamic distances between the probe tip and an observed target, such as a machine shaft.

Used primarily for radial vibration, axial thrust position, and shaft average radial position measurements, this probe is compatible with 7200 series Proximitor sensors and extension cables. The probe tip is constructed from polyphenylene sulfide (PPS), offering resistance to harsh, wet, or chemically active environments. This configuration integrates into existing 7200 monitoring loops to provide accurate displacement data for gas turbines, steam turbines, compressors, and large rotating machinery.

Features

  • 8 mm diameter probe tip with standard mounting configuration.
  • Polyphenylene sulfide (PPS) construction for chemical and moisture resistance.
  • 0.4 inch (10.2 mm) unthreaded length (Option 04).
  • 3.6 inch (91.4 mm) case length (Option 36).
  • 0.5 metre (20 inch) integral coaxial cable (Option 05).
  • Miniature male coaxial connector (Option 02).
  • Compatible with 7200 series Proximitor sensors and extension cables.
  • Linear measuring range of 80 mils (2 mm).

Applications

  • Radial vibration monitoring for bearing health and rotor imbalance detection.
  • Axial thrust position measurement to monitor thrust bearing wear.
  • Shaft average radial position and attitude angle determination.
  • Eccentricity measurement to identify rotor bow.
  • Vibration amplitude and phase angle for Polar and Bode plotting.

Compliance and Certifications

The 7200 proximity transducer systems are designed for use in various industrial environments. Please consult the specific hazardous area rating documentation (CSA, FM, or BASEEFA) provided with the system components for installation in classified areas.

FAQ

What does the 21504-04-36-05-02 dash-code represent?

The dash-code indicates specific physical options: 04 is the 0.4-inch unthreaded length, 36 is the 3.6-inch case length, 05 is the 0.5-metre cable length, and 02 specifies the miniature male coaxial connector type.

Is this probe compatible with modern 3300 series monitors?

The 7200 series is a legacy system; while compatible with 7200 Proximitors, verify your specific monitoring system compatibility as 7200 components are generally distinct from 3300 XL transducer systems.

What material is used for the 8 mm probe tip?

The probe tip is constructed from polyphenylene sulfide (PPS), a high-performance plastic selected for its ability to withstand harsh, wet, or chemically active environments.

Can this probe be used in hazardous locations?

Yes, most 7200 series transducers carry certifications from agencies such as CSA, FM, and BASEEFA for use in specific hazardous areas. Please verify the certification labels on your specific unit.
