Product Description

Description

Option 00 (no mounting adapter) and Option 01 (CSA/US/C hazardous area certification) specify this Bently Nevada 330500-00-01 Velomitor Piezo-velocity Sensor configuration. This absolute vibration sensor uses solid-state piezoelectric accelerometer technology with integrated electronics to measure absolute bearing housing, casing, or structural vibration.

Because this sensor does not contain moving components, it is immune to mechanical wear and degradation. It can be installed vertically, horizontally, or at any intermediate angle. It provides a standard 3.94 mV/mm/s (100 mV/in/s) output and is housed in a hermetically-sealed 316L stainless steel case to withstand harsh industrial environments.

Features

  • Option 00 base configuration featuring an integrated 3/8-24 UNF-2B internal mounting thread without an external adapter.
  • Option 01 CSA/US/C certification for Division 1 and Division 2 hazardous area environments.
  • Solid-state piezoelectric design with zero moving parts, preventing mechanical wear and permitting arbitrary mounting orientation.
  • Hermetically-sealed 316L stainless steel housing with a robust 2-pin MIL-C-5015 top-exit connector.
  • Case-isolated electrical design to prevent ground loop noise from degrading vibration signals.

Applications

This piezo-velocity sensor is used for continuous machinery protection and diagnostic monitoring in demanding industrial sectors such as power generation, petrochemicals, oil and gas, and water treatment. Typical target equipment includes:

  • Industrial pumps, fans, and blowers
  • Centrifugal and reciprocating compressors
  • Steam and gas turbine casings
  • Electric motors and gearboxes
  • Generator bearing housings

Installation Guidelines

To achieve accurate measurements and maintain equipment protection, observe the following guidelines:

  • Prepare a flat, clean mounting surface on the machine casing or bearing housing.
  • Ensure the mounting location features a 12.7 mm (0.500 in) diameter, 0.8 mm (0.030 in) deep counterbore.
  • Tighten the sensor directly to the casing or mounting interface with a torque of 32 to 46 kg cm (24 to 40 in-lb) maximum.
  • Always use twisted, shielded cable (such as standard Bently Nevada 9571-NN or armored 84661-NN) to shield the signal from electrostatic and electromagnetic noise.
  • To prevent low-frequency noise from being amplified, avoid integrating the sensor output to displacement without using high-pass filtering.

FAQ
What do the option codes -00 and -01 signify for this Velomitor sensor?
The -00 suffix denotes that no mounting thread adapter is included with the sensor, and the -01 suffix specifies the CSA/US/C hazardous area approval package.
Can this piezo-velocity sensor be mounted at any angle?
Yes. Because the sensor is a solid-state piezoelectric design with no moving mechanical parts, it does not suffer from wear or orientation limitations and can be mounted vertically, horizontally, or at any intermediate angle.
What cable type is recommended for connecting this sensor to a monitor?
A two-conductor twisted, shielded 18 AWG or 22 AWG cable with a two-socket MIL-C-5015 moisture-resistant connector is recommended. Bently Nevada provides standard cables like the 9571-NN or armored 84661-NN for this purpose.
What is the sensitivity and operating frequency range of this model?
It features a nominal sensitivity of 3.94 mV/mm/s (100 mV/in/s) +/-5% and operates across a broad frequency range of 4.5 Hz to 5 kHz (+/-3 dB).
