Description

330704-00-50-10-01-05: 3300 XL 11 mm proximity probe with metric M14 x 1.5 thread and stainless steel armor. Option 00 specifies a 0 mm unthreaded length, Option 50 defines a 50 mm overall case length, and Option 10 indicates a 1.0 meter (3.3 feet) total probe length. It features a miniature coaxial ClickLoc connector with a pre-installed connector protector on a standard 75 ohm FEP-insulated cable (Option 01), combined with multiple international hazardous area certifications (Option 05).

This eddy-current proximity probe belongs to the 3300 XL 11 mm Proximity Transducer System, which is used for non-contacting vibration and displacement measurements on fluid film bearing machines. The protective flexible AISI 302 stainless steel armor shields the cable from physical wear and harsh industrial environments, contrasting with non-armored variants like the 330703 probe. The probe connects to a 3300 XL 11 mm extension cable and a 3300 XL 11 mm Proximitor Sensor to form a complete 5-meter or 9-meter measurement system.

Features

  • Option 00 (0 mm unthreaded length) and Option 50 (50 mm overall case length) provide a standard metric M14 x 1.5 threaded profile.
  • Option 10 specifies a 1.0 meter (3.3 feet) total probe length, designed to connect directly to compatible 3300 XL extension cables.
  • Option 01 includes a miniature coaxial ClickLoc connector along with a fluorosilicone connector protector to guard the connection from environmental contaminants.
  • Option 05 provides multiple approvals for hazardous environments, including CSA, ATEX, and IECEx intrinsic safety and non-incendive ratings.
  • Flexible AISI 302 stainless steel armor with FEP outer jacket offers robust mechanical protection for the triaxial probe cable.
  • Polyphenylene sulfide (PPS) tip material resists chemical erosion and high temperatures in rotating machinery casings.

Applications

Typical applications for this transducer system configuration include:

  • Axial (thrust) position measurements on steam turbines and turbomachinery.
  • Shaft radial vibration measurements on fluid film bearing machines.
  • Ramp differential expansion measurements on steam turbines.
  • Rod position or rod drop measurements on industrial reciprocating compressors.
  • Tachometer, zero speed, and phase reference (Keyphasor) signal generation.

Installation Guidelines

When installing the 3300 XL 11 mm proximity probe, adhere to the following industrial engineering practices:

  • Thread Torque: Do not exceed the maximum rated torque of 63.3 N-m (560 in-lb) for M14 x 1.5 probe cases. The recommended installation torque is 21.1 N-m (187 in-lb).
  • Bend Radius: Maintain a minimum bend radius of 25.4 mm (1.0 inch) for the FEP-insulated coaxial cable and the stainless steel armor to avoid internal damage to the conductor.
  • Connector Handling: Connection between the probe and extension cable should be finger-tight. The maximum allowable torque for the ClickLoc coaxial connector is 0.565 N-m (5 in-lb).
  • Connector Protection: Ensure the fluorosilicone connector protector is fully installed over the coaxial connection to prevent moisture, dirt, and oil contamination. Do not use silicone tape inside the machinery casing or in areas exposed to turbine oil.
  • Probe Gap Setting: Set the initial physical gap between the probe tip and the target to 2.5 mm (100 mils), which corresponds to the midpoint of the 4.0 mm (160 mils) linear range.

Compliance and Certifications

This proximity probe is certified under the Option 05 Multiple Approvals package for use in hazardous areas. Verified certifications include:

  • ATEX/IECEx: Ex ia IIC T5...T1 Ga for intrinsically safe installations in Zone 0; Ex nA IIC T5...T1 Gc and Ex ec IIC T5...T1 Gc for Zone 2 installations.
