Description

Option 28 (3300 XL 8 mm probe with Multiple Approvals) and Option 05 (50 mm standoff adapter) specify this metric PROXPAC XL Proximity Transducer configuration — 330881-28-05-035-01-02.

This self-contained proximity probe assembly eliminates the need for an extension cable by housing both the 3300 XL 8 mm proximity probe and the 3300 XL Proximitor sensor inside a molded thermoplastic enclosure. Made from glass-reinforced polyphenylene sulfide (PPS) infused with conductive fibers, the housing provides mechanical durability and dissipates electrostatic charges. Field wiring connects directly between monitors and the transducer assembly inside this IP66-rated housing, avoiding separate Proximitor enclosures.

Features

  • Option 28 integrates a 3300 XL 8 mm proximity probe pre-installed with multiple hazardous area approvals.
  • Option 05 provides a 50 mm standoff adapter length to adjust penetration depth.
  • Option 035 defines a 35 mm probe penetration depth (C Dimension) inside the machine case.
  • Option 01 supplies one M25 fitting and two plugs as part of the conduit connection kit.
  • Option 02 provides a 3/4-14 NPT outer sleeve mounting thread to secure the assembly to the machine case.
  • Thermoplastic PPS (polyphenylene sulfide) housing with conductive fibers dissipates electrostatic charges and resists harsh chemicals.
  • IP66 and Type 4X environmental protection rating protects the internally housed probe and Proximitor sensor from dust and hose-directed water.

Applications

  • Fluid machinery protection and vibration monitoring on rotating shafts.
  • Radial vibration and axial shaft position measurements on pumps, compressors, and turbines.
  • Installations requiring external probe adjustment or proximity sensors in space-constrained machinery cases.
  • Corrosive, wet, or hazardous industrial environments where standard steel or aluminum enclosures are unsuitable.

Installation Guidelines

Ensure the probe gap is set within the 3300 XL 8 mm sensor's linear range. Maintain proper separation of transducer tips (at least 40 mm for axial or 38 mm for radial measurements) to limit cross-talk under 50 mV. The sleeve must be secured with the probe sleeve locknut torqued to 39.3 N-m (350 in-lb). The retaining nut must be torqued to 29.5 N-m (260 in-lb). Grounding must be properly terminated, and precautions should be taken to prevent moisture from traveling through the conduit into the housing.

Compliance and Certifications

  • CE Compliant (European Community Directives)
  • EMC Directive 2014/30/EU (EN 61000-6-2, EN 61000-6-4)
  • RoHS Directive 2011/65/EU
  • Multiple Approvals Option 28 (including CSA, ATEX, and IECEx hazardous area certifications)
