Description

The Bently Nevada 3500/23E Transient Data Interface (TDI) serves as the primary communications gateway between the 3500 ENCORE monitoring system and GE System 1 condition monitoring and diagnostic software. By combining the fundamental capabilities of a System Monitor with the data collection efficiency of a communication processor, the module continuously captures and transfers critical machine health data. The 3500/23E operates in the designated System Monitor slot of a 3500 ENCORE rack alongside 3500/42E vibration monitors, processing steady state and transient waveform data through an Ethernet link to the host system. Standard configurations include static data capture, while dynamic and transient data capture can be enabled using an optional Channel Enabling Disk.

Features

  • Dual-Function Capability: Integrates full System Monitor operations with advanced data processing functions within a single slot footprint.
  • Continuous Data Logging: Enables steady state and transient data collection via high-speed Ethernet connection to host diagnostic software.
  • Flexible Signal Capture: Standard static data capture with upgradeable paths to dynamic and transient tracking via software licensing.
  • Broad Integration Protocols: Provides extensive communication mapping of rack values and machine statuses to external plant automation systems using serial RS232, RS422, or RS485 loops.
  • System Security: Hardware-based configuration keylock switch restricts unauthorized remote or local modification of configuration settings when toggled to RUN mode.

Applications

  • Turbomachinery Diagnostics: Captures continuous transient waveforms during critical machinery events like startup and coastdown.
  • Condition Monitoring Systems (CMS): Acts as the dedicated hardware bridge for GE System 1 asset management software integration.
  • Distributed Control System (DCS) Interfacing: Transmits critical vibration metrics and rack alarm statuses to plant control networks via Modbus RTU.
  • Retrofit System Upgrades: Replaces legacy communication processors in 3300 rack architectures using a standardized 3500 ENCORE form factor.

Installation Guidelines

CRITICAL WARNING: Isolate all hazardous field power sources and completely de-energize the host machinery rack before inserting or removing the interface module. Failure to properly discharge field electronics or working on live equipment in active zones can trigger unexpected machine trips, compromise system validation, or invalidate safety certifications within hazardous locations.
  1. 1 Locate the primary System Monitor slot inside the 3500 ENCORE chassis. This unit must always be inserted into Slot 1, directly positioned next to the rack power supply assemblies.
  2. 2 Align the physical card along the top and bottom guide rails of Slot 1. Push the module firmly straight back into the slot until the rear connectors mate securely with the chassis backplane. Tighten the panel retaining screws to secure the faceplate.
  3. 3 Connect your dedicated communication infrastructure. Terminate Ethernet networks into the standard RJ-45 ports or tie serial logic lines into the 9-pin D-Sub interface based on Modbus or BN Host protocol deployment parameters.
  4. 4 Insert the physical system configuration key into the faceplate switch. Turn the mechanism to PROGRAM mode to push parameter profiles through the 3500 Configuration Software, then lock the hardware back into RUN mode to enforce configuration writes lockout and protect against unauthorized tampering.

正在加载 PDF,请稍候…

Which chassis slot must the 3500/23E module be placed in?

The module must always occupy Slot 1 of the 3500 ENCORE rack, located directly next to the system power supplies.

What is required to unlock dynamic and transient data capture?

While static data capture is standard on the device, dynamic or transient tracking requires the utilization of an optional Channel Enabling Disk.

What communication protocols does this interface natively support?

It supports BN Host Protocol, BN TDI Protocol via Ethernet TCP/IP, and Modbus RTU using serial RS232, RS422, or RS485 configurations.

What is the function of the physical keylock switch on the front panel?

The keylock switches the rack between RUN mode (normal operation, locks out configuration changes) and PROGRAM mode (allows local or remote reconfiguration).
