Description

The Emerson A6312/06 is a Dual Channel Speed/ Key Monitor designed for measuring and conditioning shaft speeds, rotation direction, speed difference, and rotational reference marks (key-pulses) in rotating machinery. Constructed around a high-performance microprocessor, the module processes signals received from two eddy current measuring chains or hall-effect sensors (such as PR 9376). It interfaces via a 48-pin DIN 41612 (design F 48 M) backplane connector and includes front-panel SMB signal taps alongside a mini-DIN (TM 0508A/6) connector for RS 232 configuration, plus a rear-bus RS 485 interface for system integration. The module operates using two independent, galvanically isolated 0...20 mA or 4...20 mA current outputs and opto-decoupled collector/emitter function outputs, supporting machine monitoring setups within the CSI 6500 / A6000 architecture.

Features

  • Dual-channel speed, key-pulse, phase relation, rotational direction, and speed difference measurements
  • Uncoupled signal inputs compatible with eddy current systems and hall-effect sensors
  • Galvanically isolated, configurable 0...20 mA or 4...20 mA analog current outputs with 16-bit resolution
  • Opto-decoupled collector/emitter function outputs for limit alarms and channel clear status
  • Onboard RS 485 bus communication interface with selectable jumper termination
  • Front-panel SMB signal sockets and RS 232 Mini-DIN configuration port
  • Redundant +24 V DC power supply inputs with galvanic separation

Applications

  • Turbine shaft speed and key-pulse monitoring
  • Compressor speed and rotation direction detection
  • Industrial fan and gearbox shaft speed difference calculations

Installation Guidelines

  • Mount the module into a prepared 3U slot of a 19-inch rack or Intermas-compatible enclosure featuring a DIN 41612 design F 48 M plug connector.
  • Verify slot wiring and pin allocation before inserting the card.
  • Press the card gently into the connector and hand-tighten the two front-panel anchoring screws.
  • Maintain a minimum ventilation space of 1 RU (1.75 inches) in all directions around the rack; use cooling fan racks if ambient cabinet temperatures exceed 45 Celsius.
  • Set the internal controller board jumpers (1-2, 3-4, 5-6) to enable the 120 Ω RS 485 bus line termination and pull-up/pull-down references on the first and last network devices.
  • Ensure a permanently installed system power disconnect device (switch or circuit breaker) compliant with IEC 60947-1/3 is accessible within the cabinet.

Compliance and Certifications

  • CSA Certified (when marked with CSA label)
  • DIN EN 55011 / DIN EN 61326 EMC Standards
  • IEC 61010-1 Category 2 Pollution Degree
