Description

The GE Fanuc IC695PSD040F is a 40-Watt DC-to-DC power supply designed for installation in PACSystems RX3i Universal Backplanes (IC695 series). Operating from an input voltage source in the range of 18 VDC to 30 VDC , this module provides three essential internal outputs: +5.1 VDC , +24 VDC relay power to supply circuits on Output Relay modules , and +3.3 VDC utilized internally by RX3i modules with IC695 catalog numbers. The IC695PSD040F model specifically resolves an issue identified in previous revisions where the power supply occasionally failed to power up when installed in a 16-Slot Universal Backplane (IC695CHS016). It occupies exactly one backplane slot and features an internal diagnostic fault reporting system that communicates with the CPU to log system faults or power loss occurrences.

Features

  • Output Capabilities: Provides three highly regulated output channels including +5.1 VDC , +24 VDC relay power , and +3.3 VDC.
  • Integrated Hardware ON/OFF Switch: Equipped with a front-panel toggle switch protected by an access door to govern output delivery without interrupting the main incoming line power.
  • System Diagnostics and Status LEDs: Includes four diagnostic front-panel LEDs to indicate real-time status: Power, P/S Fault, Over Temperature, and Overload.
  • Overcurrent Protection Mechanism: Features an electronic limit on the 5.1 VDC output (7 Amps) and the 3.3 VDC output (10 Amps) with continuous automatic restart attempts during an active overload state.
  • Overvoltage Protection Option: Features a bottom-mounted screw terminal configuration with a jumper strap to frame ground for incoming overvoltage protection.

Applications

  • PACSystems RX3i backplane configuration deployments
  • Industrial control systems utilizing Output Relay modules
  • Pollution Degree 2 operating environments

Installation Guidelines

  • Backplane Limitation: Install only one IC695PSD040F power supply in a single PACSystems RX3i Universal Backplane. It cannot be utilized in multiple power supply systems to achieve load sharing or reduncancy.
  • Connection Polarity: Ensure connection polarity is identical at each RX3i power supply when using the same external DC power source across multiple units to prevent equipment damage or personal injury.
  • Common Grounding: Connect each backplane to a common system ground, keeping frame ground wiring paths as short as possible.
  • Wiring Terminal Torque: Strip individual wire ends between 9 mm and 11 mm. Insert fully into the terminal before tightening. Do not exceed the maximum terminal screw torque limit of 0.5 N-m (4.4 inch-lbs).
  • High-Potential Testing: Temporarily disable overvoltage protection by removing the jumper strap from the bottom terminal prior to running a Hi-pot test. Reinstall the jumper once testing is complete.

Technical Datasheet

GE Fanuc IC695PSD040F PACSystems RX3i Power Supply Module

Can the power supply support redundant operations or load sharing?

No, the power supply does not support load sharing or redundancy and cannot be used in a parallel configuration with other RX3i power supply modules.

What is the consequence of momentary loss on the 24 VDC input power source?

A momentary drop in the 24 VDC input may cause the internal +24 VDC relay power to temporarily drop out, which can cause connected output relay module circuits to drop out, while the +5.1 VDC and +3.3 VDC outputs remain unaffected for up to 10 ms.

How is overcurrent handled within the device?

The device features electronic overcurrent limits set to 7 Amps on the 5.1 VDC output and 10 Amps on the 3.3 VDC output. Upon detecting an overload or short circuit, the device shuts down and continuously attempts to restart.
