Description

The ICRXICTL000 is a high-performance distributed I/O controller module developed within the PACSystems RXi platform by GE Fanuc (GE Intelligent Platforms). Equipped with a dual-core COMExpress CPU, 2 GB of RAM, and up to 64 GB of internal flash data storage, this controller is designed to manage sophisticated control logic and local long-term data retention through an internal industrial-grade SSD. The module supports diverse logic execution including Ladder Diagram (LD), Function Block Diagram (FBD), and Structured Text (ST) instructions. Operating over high-speed networks, the ICRXICTL000 utilizes a high-speed Interconnect Bus that allows combinations of real-time machine control alongside dedicated operating system applications. For persistent user memory protection, it interfaces directly with an external Energy Pack or Capacitor Pack to write data securely to non-volatile RAM (NVRAM) during sudden power-down events.

Features

  • Powered by a dual-core COMExpress CPU for deterministic, high-speed execution.
  • Embedded with 2 GB RAM and up to 64 GB internal flash data storage with an industrial-grade SSD.
  • Built-in high-speed Interconnect Bus enabling co-processing of control and secondary OS applications.
  • Programmed and configured via Proficy Machine Edition (PME) software.
  • Supports standard PACSystems languages including Ladder Diagram (LD), Function Block Diagram (FBD), and Structured Text (ST).
  • Interfaces with dedicated Energy Packs to safeguard volatile control registers during thermal or electrical disruptions.

Applications

  • Distributed I/O network control and coordination
  • Industrial automation and processing lines
  • Decentralized machine-level automation architectures
  • Embedded co-processing and computing applications

Installation Guidelines

  • Ensure the primary enclosure or chassis has proper thermal management to support steady convection cooling for the embedded CPU.
  • Connect a compatible and fully charged Energy Pack (such as the ICRXIACCEPK01) to the designated interface prior to initial power-up to allow valid user memory preservation.
  • Do not cycle primary power to the controller module while firmware or hardware configuration updates are actively writing to local flash memory.
  • Set the local IP address, subnet mask, and gateway address parameters correctly within Proficy Machine Edition before deploying the hardware configuration to the network.

Technical Datasheet

GE Fanuc ICRXICTL000 PACSystems RXi Distributed I/O Controller

What is the primary processing architecture used in the controller?

The module utilizes a dual-core COMExpress CPU combined with 2 GB of RAM and an integrated industrial-grade SSD to provide long-term local data retention and multi-language logic execution.

How is the user memory protected during an unexpected power loss?

User memory is preserved by connecting a compatible Energy Pack or Capacitor Pack. During a power-down sequence, the pack supplies energy to write critical application data into the onboard non-volatile RAM.

Which software version is required to configure the device?

The controller is compatible with Proficy Machine Edition (PME) release 7.50 or later, with firmware versions depending on the exact implementation of the connected distributed I/O infrastructure.
