Description

Option 02 (0.2 in unthreaded length) and Option 12 (1.2 in overall case length) specify this 3300 XL 8 mm reverse mount proximity probe configuration — 330105-02-12-05-02-01. This eddy-current probe measures shaft vibration, axial position, and oil-film thickness on rotating machinery. Unlike standard front-mount probes that thread into place from the outside of the machine housing, this reverse mount variant installs from the rear or from inside a mounting sleeve, allowing machinery protection monitoring in compact bearing housings or spaces with limited external access.

The probe utilizes a 3/8-24 UNF-2A thread design and integrates a 0.5-meter (1.6 feet) total length coaxial cable. For proper calibration and functionality, this 0.5-meter probe is matched with a corresponding 4.5-meter or 8.5-meter extension cable, completing a 5.0-meter or 9.0-meter transducer system that interfaces directly with a calibrated 3300 XL Proximitor sensor. The coaxial cable is terminated with a gold-plated miniature ClickLoc coaxial connector that resists mechanical vibration without requiring a bulky connector protector sleeve. Equipped with Option 01 agency approvals, the assembly meets CSA us/c standards for hazardous locations, certifying it for use in intrinsically safe and non-incendive installations.

Features

  • Reverse mount design allows installation into sleeve assemblies or bearing housings from the inside or rear.
  • Option 02 unthreaded length of 0.2 inches (5.0 mm) accommodates low-profile mounting requirements.
  • Option 12 overall case length of 1.2 inches (30 mm) with a standard 3/8-24 UNF-2A threaded body.
  • Option 05 total cable length of 0.5 meters (1.6 feet) minimizes cable slack within machine casings.
  • Option 02 miniature ClickLoc coaxial connector provides gold-plated positive locking to maintain signal integrity.
  • Option 01 CSA us/c agency approvals certify the hardware for Class I, Division 1 and 2 hazardous areas.
  • Polyphenylene sulfide (PPS) probe tip material withstands chemical exposure and high temperatures.
  • AISI 303 stainless steel case construction provides corrosion protection in harsh industrial environments.

Applications

  • Radial shaft vibration and axial position measurement on industrial rotating machinery.
  • Steam turbine, gas turbine, and generator bearing housing protection systems.
  • Centrifugal compressor, expander, and gearbox condition monitoring.
  • High-speed turbo-machinery monitoring with limited external clearance.

Installation Guidelines

Ensure the probe mounting location is free of debris. When installing the reverse mount probe, thread the assembly from the rear of the sleeve or housing. Do not exceed the maximum thread engagement length of 14.3 mm (0.563 in) to avoid physical binding. Tighten the probe to finger tight during installation, keeping torque within the maximum limit of 3.9 N-m (35 in-lb) to protect the threaded housing. Route the coaxial cable with a minimum bend radius of 25.4 mm (1.0 in) and secure it using non-metallic clamps to prevent cable wear from high machinery vibration. Maintain clean, dry connections on the ClickLoc connector, and verify that the coaxial cable shield is isolated from the machine ground and connected to the common terminal at the Proximitor sensor barrier block.

Technical Datasheet

Bently Nevada 330105-02-12-05-02-01 3300 XL Reverse Mount Proximity Probe

What specifies the mechanical dimensions of this 330105-02-12-05-02-01 proximity probe?

This specific probe configuration is defined by Segment A (02) representing a 0.2-inch unthreaded length, and Segment B (12) indicating a 1.2-inch overall case length with 3/8-24 UNF threads.

What is the significance of the '02' connector option on this probe?

The 02 connector option indicates a standard coaxial cable terminated with a gold-plated miniature ClickLoc coaxial male connector, supplied without an additional connector protector sleeve.

How does a reverse mount probe differ from a standard proximity probe?

Standard probes are threaded from the front of the machine casing, while the reverse mount design is inserted from the rear or inside a sleeve assembly, making it ideal for bearing housings where external clearance is restricted.

What are the system requirements for a 0.5-meter probe?

Because this probe has a total length of 0.5 meters (Option 05), it must be paired with a matching 4.5-meter or 8.5-meter extension cable to complete a 5.0-meter or 9.0-meter transducer system calibrated for the Proximitor sensor.

Which hazardous area approvals does this probe carry?

This configuration features Option 01 for agency approvals, certifying the unit under CSA us/c standards for Class I, Division 1 (Intrinsically Safe) and Division 2 (Non-Incendive) hazardous environments in North America.
