Description

Option 02 (M30x2 metric thread), Option 000 (0 mm unthreaded length), and Option 030 (30 mm overall case length) specify this 3300 XL 25 mm proximity probe configuration — 330851-02-000-030-10-00-05. This eddy-current non-contact sensor is used for measuring differential expansion (DE) on steam turbine generators. Operating as part of the 3300 XL 25 mm transducer system, it measures rotor axial growth relative to the machine casing.

Unlike other case options with English threads or smooth bodies, this probe features an M30x2 metric threaded case (Option 02) with a short 30 mm case length (Option 030). It includes a 1.0 m lead cable with an unarmored PFA jacket (Option 00) and carries multiple agency approvals (Option 05) for hazardous locations.

Features

  • Metric M30x2 threaded case option (Option 02) with 38 mm locknut and 27 mm wrench flats
  • Fully threaded design with 0 mm unthreaded length (Option 000)
  • Compact 30 mm overall case length (Option 030) for restricted spaces
  • 1.0 metre (3.3 feet) integrated FluidLoc cable (Option 10) to prevent moisture ingress
  • Unarmored coaxial cable configuration (Option 00) with a removable ClickLoc connector collar
  • Multiple hazardous area approvals (Option 05) including ATEX, IECEx, and CSA

Applications

  • Steam turbine generator differential expansion (DE) measurements
  • Rotor axial growth monitoring relative to stator casing
  • Thrust position and large shaft target tracking
  • Severe industrial environments requiring fluid sealing and high-temperature performance

Installation Guidelines

Proper installation requires correct probe gapping and cable routing. The linear range of the 25 mm system begins at approximately 0.63 mm (25 mils) from the target surface. Secure the probe using the supplied locknut with predrilled safety wire holes. Torque the M30x2 threaded case to the recommended torque of 68 N-m (50 ft-lb). Ensure that the connectors are kept dry and protected using connector protectors. Avoid exposing the cable to sharp bends; observe a minimum bend radius of 25.4 mm (1.0 in).

Compliance and Certifications

This probe complies with European CE markings and is approved for hazardous environments under option 05 (Multiple Approvals). This includes Class I, Zone 0, AEx/Ex ia IIC T5...T1 Ga intrinsically safe installations when used with approved Zener barriers or galvanic isolators, as well as Division 2 non-incendive classifications.
