Installation Guidelines

• Probe Gap: Set the nominal probe gap (typically 1.27 mm / 50 mils) using a caliper or by monitoring the DC output voltage of the Proximitor sensor during adjustment.
• Thread Engagement: Do not exceed standard thread engagement limits. For 3/8-24 UNF, the maximum length of thread engagement is 0.563 inches (14.3 mm) to avoid binding.
• Torque Limits: Apply a maximum case torque of 11.2 Nm (100 in-lbf) during installation on bearing housings.
• Cable Routing: Maintain a minimum bend radius of 25.4 mm (1.0 in). Route the cable with proper mechanical guarding to prevent abrasion. Always isolate and ground the cable shielding properly to avoid electrical noise interference.
• Proximitor Matching: Since this is a 5-meter total length probe, it must only be connected to a matching 5-meter Proximitor sensor. No extension cable is permitted, which ensures overall calibration matches exactly 5.0 meters.
