Installation Guidelines

To establish correct installation alignment and protect the electrical integrity of the sensor system, apply the following practices:

• Thread Torque: For the 3/8-24 UNF steel probe body, apply a nominal installation torque of 3.4 N-m (30 in-lb). Under no circumstances exceed 11.3 N-m (100 in-lb) of torque during mounting adjustments.
• Gap Setting: Position the probe tip at the midpoint of the linear range. Connect the probe to the Proximitor Sensor and monitor the voltage output; set the nominal gap when the output reading registers approximately -10 VDC.
• Target Area: Ensure the target surface is a flat, conductive metal face with a diameter of at least 15.2 mm (0.6 in) to avoid signal calibration errors.
• Coaxial Protection: Keep the miniature coaxial connection dry and free from contaminants. Using a standard connector protector is recommended to electrically isolate the connector shell from the machine ground.
