Description

Option 14 (1.4 in unthreaded length) and Option 43 (4.3 in overall case length) specify this particular 3300 NSv proximity probe configuration — 330901-14-43-05-02-05. Used for non-contact shaft displacement measurements in tight clearances, this eddy-current sensor features a 1/4-28 UNF thread without armor and a 0.5 m (20 in) coaxial cable terminated in a miniature ClickLoc connector. It is designed specifically for small-bore machinery, high-speed gearboxes, and aeroderivative turbines with restricted target sizes or side-view clearances.

Unlike variants equipped with stainless steel armor (such as the 330902 series) or FluidLoc chemical-sealing cables, this unarmored configuration offers maximum flexibility in clean conduits and tight mounting bores. The standard coaxial cable with a gold-plated miniature ClickLoc connector prevents connector loosening in environments prone to mild vibration without the bulk of an added connector protector (Option 02). This configuration is certified for hazardous areas under the Multiple Approvals option (Option 05).

Features

  • 1/4-28 UNF Thread: Unarmored threaded probe body (Base Model 330901) for standard imperial mounting taps.
  • Unthreaded Length: 1.4 inches (Option 14) unthreaded body portion for specific recessed bracket setups.
  • Case Length: 4.3 inches (Option 43) overall case length.
  • Total Length: 0.5 meter (Option 05) total system length, allowing short lead connection to the extension cable.
  • ClickLoc Connector: Gold-plated miniature brass ClickLoc coaxial connector (Option 02) without a silicone connector protector.
  • Agency Approvals: Multiple Approvals package (Option 05) certified for intrinsically safe installations in hazardous areas.
  • System Compatibility: Operates with the 3300 XL NSv Proximitor Sensor (330980) and 330930 extension cables.

Applications

  • Radial vibration and shaft position measurements on narrow shafts smaller than 51 mm (2 in).
  • Axial (thrust) position measurements on flat targets smaller than 15 mm (0.6 in).
  • Centrifugal refrigeration compressors and process gas compressors with limited installation clearance.
  • High-speed turbomachinery and aeroderivative gas turbines.
  • Tachometer, speed, and Phase Reference (Keyphasor) signal generation.

Installation Guidelines

  • Torque Limits: Do not exceed the maximum rated installation torque of 5.1 N-m (45 in-lb) for 1/4-28 UNF probe cases.
  • Minimum Bend Radius: Maintain a minimum cable bend radius of 25.4 mm (1.0 in) for coaxial routing.
  • Cross-Talk Prevention: When installing multiple radial or X-Y probe pairs, keep probe tips separated by at least 23 mm (0.9 in).
  • Thread Engagement: Avoid binding by limiting thread engagement to a maximum of 1.5 times the nominal thread diameter.
  • Field Wiring: Use three-conductor shielded triad field wiring (0.2 to 1.5 mm2 or 16 to 24 AWG) to connect the Proximitor Sensor to the monitor.

Compliance and Certifications

  • Hazardous Areas (Option 05): Class I, Zone 0, AEx/Ex ia IIC T4/T5 Ga; Class I, Groups A, B, C, D; Class II, Groups E, F, G; Class III (intrinsically safe when barrier protected).
  • Functional Safety: SIL 2 (HFT=0) and SIL 3 (HFT=1) certified in accordance with IEC 61508.
  • Electromagnetic Compatibility: Complies with EMC Directive 2014/30/EU, EN 61000-6-2 (Immunity), and EN 61000-6-4 (Emissions).
  • Environmental Protection: Complies with RoHS Directive 2011/65/EU and China RoHS (15-year Environment-Friendly Use Period).

Technical Datasheet

Bently Nevada 330901-14-43-05-02-05 3300 NSv Proximity Probe

What does the 14-43 code signify in this Bently Nevada probe's part number?

It represents the physical case dimensions: an unthreaded length of 1.4 inches (Option 14) and an overall case length of 4.3 inches (Option 43).

What cable and connector style does this 3300 NSv probe use?

This configuration features a 0.5-meter (Option 05) standard coaxial cable terminated with a gold-plated miniature ClickLoc coaxial connector (Option 02) without a connector protector.

What machinery conditions are best suited for 3300 NSv sensors?

The 3300 NSv system is optimized for centrifugal or refrigeration gas compressors and small-bore machinery where mounting space, rear-view clearance, or target size limits standard 5 mm and 8 mm sensors.

Does this probe configuration have explosive environment approvals?

Yes. With Option 05 agency approval, the probe is certified with Multiple Approvals, including CSA, ATEX, and IECEx for intrinsically safe Class I, Zone 0, Groups A, B, C, and D areas.
