Description

The Bently Nevada 330980-71-00 is a non-contacting 3300 XL NSv Proximitor Sensor designed as part of the 3300 XL NSv Proximity Transducer System. It is specifically engineered for use with centrifugal air compressors, refrigeration compressors, process gas compressors, and other machinery exhibiting tight installation requirements or small target areas. This includes measuring radial vibration or radial position on shafts smaller than 51 mm (2 inches) and axial position on flat targets smaller than 15 mm (0.6 inches).

The device features an enhanced side-view profile and small target characteristics that deliver a 1.5 mm (60 mils) linear range. Utilizing SpringLoc terminal strips, it allows robust field wiring connections without requiring specialized installation tools. Its compact mechanical profile supports high-density installations while providing immunity against RFI/EMI high-frequency radio signals.

Features

  • Part of the 3300 XL NSv Proximity Transducer System optimizing performance for tight installation constraints.
  • Compact design allows mounting in either high-density DIN-rail installations or traditional panel mount configurations.
  • Integrates SpringLoc terminal strips to enable fast, secure field wiring without specialized installation tools.
  • Enhanced RFI/EMI immunity protects the transducer system from nearby high-frequency radio signal interference.
  • Default factory calibration to AISI 4140 steel, with alternative material calibrations available upon request.

Applications

  • Centrifugal air compressors, refrigeration compressors, and process gas compressors.
  • Radial vibration and radial position measurements on fluid-filmed bearing machines with small shafts.
  • Axial (thrust) position measurements on small or restricted flat targets.
  • Tachometer, zero speed measurements, and phase reference (Keyphasor signals).

Installation Guidelines

  • Mounting Configuration: Designed for 35mm DIN rail mounting installations. Ensure a minimum additional clearance of 3.05 mm (0.120 inches) is available to remove the DIN rail smoothly.
  • Field Wiring: Use a three-conductor shielded triad cable between the sensor and the monitor up to a maximum length of 305 meters (1000 feet).
  • Electrostatic Discharge: Take reasonable engineering precautions to avoid electrostatic discharge during handling and electrical connection hookup.
  • Isolation: Ensure the proper mounting pads are utilized to isolate the sensor body from the housing ground environment.

Compliance and Certifications

  • EMC Directives: European Community Directive 2014/30/EU; Standards EN 61000-6-2 (Immunity) and EN 61000-6-4 (Emissions) for Industrial Environments.
  • RoHS: European Community Directive 2011/65/EU.
  • FCC: Complies with part 15 of the FCC Rules.
  • Functional Safety: SIL 2 (HFT = 0), SIL 3 (HFT = 1).
  • Maritime: 2019 Rules for Conditions of Classification (Part 1, 1-1-1/7.7, 1-1-A3, 1-1-A4) and Part 1 Offshore Units and Structures (1-1-4/9.7, 1-1-A2, 1-1-A3).
