Description

The HIMA F 3237 is a safety-related 8-fold input module designed for the connection of safety-related proximity switches, proximity switches complying with DIN 19234 (NAMUR), and resistor-wired sensors. This module provides line monitoring capabilities to detect short-circuits and line breaks in the sensor lines, ensuring safe operation within requirement classes AK 1 to 6. The HIMA F 3237 executes completely automatic test routines during operation, checking parameters such as switch-on and switch-off capability, crosstalk via a walking 0 test, input filter functionality, and overall module operation.

Features

  • Supports 8 input channels for safety-related sensor applications.
  • Monitors connecting lines for short-circuit and line break conditions.
  • Fully automated self-test routines run continuously during operation.
  • Compatible with standard NAMUR proximity switches and non-standard switches, such as the P&F NJ 5-30GK-S1N, with a parallel resistor modification.
  • Enables redundant connections for proximity switch circuits.

Applications

  • Safety-instrumented systems (SIS) in industrial automation.
  • Proximity sensing and position monitoring in hazardous or critical environments.
  • Line-monitored sensor interfaces requiring requirement class AK 1 to 6 compliance.

HIMA F 3237 Safety Related 8 Fold Input Module

What parameters are automatically checked during operation for this module?

The module automatically tests its entire operation including switch-on and switch-off capability, crosstalk of input circuits via a walking 0 test, input filter functionality, correct general module operation, and sensor line short-circuits or wire breaks.

How are non-standard proximity switches integrated into the line break supervision system?

For proximity switches outside the DIN 19234 standard that deliver low current in a non-damped state, a 47 kOhm parallel resistor can be switched into the circuit to raise the output current to 170 microamps, ensuring correct line break detection.

What are the line length and impedance constraints for sensor connections?

The maximum permissible line length is 1000 meters for a cable cross-section of 0.5 square millimeters, and the maximum line impedance must be less than or equal to 50 Ohm in compliance with DIN 19234.
